I love it. the headlights, grille, and interior look awesome though I do wish they would make the fog lights smaller because it looks goofy having them be bigger than the headlight projectors. I also really like that there are ***** for the temp instead of the up/down buttons my KR has. they even tidied up the chrome 20's and made those look halfway decent. it's a shame they're still wrapped in Pirellis.

I'm probably going to order a '13 next year. as long as the Lariat looks exactly as it does in these photos, that's probably what I'll go with.

How hard will it be to replace 2012 headlights with the new hids? Anybody know if it's pretty much just a swap?

So it looks to me like the various sync/mytouch/nav/display-size variations are (green being the one I like):
  • No SYNC. Probably no 4.2" display either in center stack or instrument panel (XL's, fleet).
  • SYNC MyFord (not MyFord Touch), with 4.2" center display, with 4.2" instrument panel display. (Standard XLT, FX4)
  • SYNC MyFord Touch without navigation, with 8" center display, with 4.2" instrument panel display. (Standard Lariat & above, optional on FX4)
  • SYNC MyFord Touch with navigation, with 8" center display, with 4.2" instrument panel display. (Probably standard on Platinum as it is now, optional on Lariat, FX4, etc.)

Bits of the press releases relevant to SYNC

The 2013 Ford F-150 adds Ford’s award-winning SYNC® voice-activated communications and entertainment system ... standard equipment in XLT series and above.
...
F-150 ... introduces SYNC paired with a new 4.2-inch LCD center-stack screen that provides enhanced displays of audio and climate-control functions. In addition, the instrument cluster contains a 4.2-inch driver-configurable LCD productivity screen including menus for gauge setup, trip computer, fuel economy and towing/off-road applications.
....
Lariat, King Ranch®, Platinum and Limited series models are equipped with SYNC with MyFord Touch, adding voice control to more vehicle systems coupled with an all-new, large 8-inch LCD color touch screen mounted in the center stack. This package adds a media hub with two USB ports, an SD card reader and audio/video input jacks.
...
The new 4.2-inch multifunction display and MyFord Touch interfaces gave designers the opportunity to deliver a more modern center stack and control layout.
...
2013 F-150 FX4 features bold new grille with newly available HID projector headlamps, new standard hill descent control proven in the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and standard SYNC with MyFord, a 4.2-inch multi-function information display.
...
The 2013 F-150 FX4 is also available with SYNC with MyFord Touch, which includes an all-new, large 8-inch LCD color touch screen mounted in the center stack. This package adds a media hub with two USB ports, an SD card reader and audio/video input jacks.

Probably will depend on whether the light assemblies have an integrated ballast or not. On my 2011 FX4, the headlights can be popped out and replaced in about 2 minutes. My guess? It will have an integrated ballast, will be completely plug-and-play with 09-12's, and will have a painfully high price through the parts department.

I also wonder if the non HID's will also come with projector lenses, as they do on other optional HID Fords like the Edge.

"....The FX4 trim level sports a new grille and available HID projector headlamps...."

Well, that seems to clarify this a little more; I thought it would be really lame to bypass the FX4, with those new headlights and even one of those new grill options. This makes more sense, the modified C-clamp grill and the HID's, for the FX.

I really would prefer to get the FX4, over the Lariat, in the '13 MY, as long as it had the new goodies; so maybe, it seems, there is still hope!?
