I have a 2013 4 x 4 lariat with auto climate control. System in auto will not always come on. As soon as you hit a bump it sometimes comes on and stays on. If you run it in manual at high speed it always works. Using auto climate control, when it is workin, the fan is fluctuating a lot. I replaced the fan control with the 4 aluminum fins on it under the glove box first. No change. I replaced the full bezel with all the controls, since at times some of the buttons didn't seem to work. No change. I have a new blower motor that will arrive tomorrow that I m going to change out. Any other suggestions on what the cause is? Truck has almost 100k on it now. No codes have been showing when checked.

My 2014 seems to be doing the same thing, although my controls are manual. I have replaced the blower resister, in-cab temperature and humidity sensor. Still have issues. I haven't changed the blower motor yet because I can, on occasion get all speeds to work. Then for no apparent reason an speed 4 or higher with shut the system down. lower the speed and wait 30 seconds or so and it will work again.

On tech said always replace the blower motor and the resister simultaneously, not sure why

Will b interested to hear how you make out. Good Luck

I should have the new fan motor installed by this week end and let you know what comes of it.

Your Tech said that so he can sell you 2 parts instead of one.

I will inspect it after I get the new motor installed to see if any of the plug prongs are burnt like some have mentioned.

Update. I changed out the blower motor this morning. Started to work as soon as I started the truck. Drove it to Napa, 5 miles, to verify there were no codes and worked fine all the way there. Turned the truck off while I was waiting at Napa and started back up to leave and everything worked fine. Worked the 5 miles back home. Left again about an hour later to go to Lowes 30 miles away. Automatic climate control came and and was adjusting the temp as it should. Was in lowes for 30 minutes and went the 30 miles back home. I guess I can assume that changing out the blower motor was the problem. Temps are around 70 degrees here today.

Default Blower problems 2013 f-150 fx4

My hvac blower has been turing on & off intermittently for several months; it appears to be some sort of a short or loose connection, because driving over a speed bump or hitting a pothole activates or disengages the fan. It appears others have this issue. Have others replaced the blower successfully as mentioned above?

Mine went out at 56K and dealership is replacing both the resister and blower motor.

They said it looked like one shorted the other. Hmm, sounds like something is going on here.

I have a late 2013 Lariat Eco. 160K mikes. I did a lot of searching around on this during the weekend although thinking I'd take it somewhere to be diagnosed. In my search I never came up with my specific truck but almost every forum post or vid led me to the resister but the problems were all about blower speed. Stuck on high or low or would only work on a single setting. My problem was no blower on any setting.

Prior to complete failure and because of an earlier search, I read that simply disconnecting the neg battery post for 30 mins or so to power cycle the computer would solve the problem. Well it did solve it 3 times for about 2 hours. But from this experience I knew at least the motor would spin if it saw voltage.

So now I'm flipping coins. Do I get just the resister or get the motor too? I opted for just the resister. A $100 gamble. Yes I know there's better ways to get these than an AP Store but its 95degs right now and I need to drive.

Seems that its fixed but time will tell.

The moral of the story is it seems that these resisters can be intermittent as they start to go out. My power cycling the computer allowed the motor to run for a while, but then it quit. Then ran again and a 3rd time before the process was futile.

Who knows what the computer is looking at but hopefully sees when something is wrong and starts shutting things down. Inconvenient but a good thing if true.

I hate to bring something back from dead, but... my 13 XLT is doing this. A/C blows cold, but the speed stays pretty low, and will sometimes speed up and blow according to where I have the dial set... and then slow way down again. My question is this: I found the part shown below on amazon. When I go to order it, it states that it is for trucks with automatic climate control. I have manual. I don't have dual zone. BUT when I took the part out to take it to the parts store to get a replacement - it looks exactly like the one shown below with the fins on it. It does NOT look like the "resistor" that is one flat piece.

Any help will be appreciated.

Also, the prongs on mine (male and female) looked perfectly fine. Like brand new, actually.

I ordered the OE Motorcraft part on Amazon for about $38. The part number is "YH-1829". It took me about 5 minutes to replace and fixed my problem. I have read on the forums that other F150s of the same model have had the issue of being stuck on one speed or not working at all. When I took the old part out I could see that the prongs were burned out. The part is located under the passenger dashboard and can be removed by removing 2 -8mm screws. You can have easier access if you put down the glove box and pinch (inward) the side walls, which allows it to swing downward farther. The pigtail connector has black electrical tape around it. Remove the tape to expose the pigtail clip.

Amazon seems to have two that look the exact same.

YH-1829 is the one shown above, and Amazon has a note: "w/AUTO TEMP CONTROL, w/ELECTRONIC DUAL ZONE A/"

Amazon Amazon

And then the BL3Z-19E624-A, and the note with it says "with automatic temperature controls"

Amazon Amazon

Man, I am so confused. Going through several sources, it seems THIS is the part I need for manual temp controls.

Amazon Amazon

But that's NOT the part I took out when I went to buy a replacement.
