Default 2013 f150 front brake lines

Curious has anyone an or how many folks here have had issues with this gen/yr's front brake hoses?

One of mine failed causing excessive pressure to stay at the caliper, not releasing it back quick enough. Someone here whom I trust mentioned to me rather than a caliper issue they had seen a lot of bad brake hoses.

So my wifes 2013 Fusion got a recall on those front brake hoses....

Im wondering @fordmoco why does the 2013 F150 not have a similar recall?

If brake fluid is not keep clean, one can get corrosion in a brake line. Especially if you live where it gets really cold or where you have high humidity. While it is rare - like any manufactured part - brake lines can be defective.
It's not expensive and rather easy DYI to replace the brake lines, Use Motorcraft lines. Flush the entire system when you do it. Proper brake bleed and flushing requires positive pressure setup - they are not expensive on Amazon. As far as brake fluid you can use dot 3 or if you want to, step up to Bosh EIS6 - Rock Auto has some of the best prices. And make sure to do a flush every 2 years (can push to 3 with the Bosh EIS6) and your brakes will love you.

When I was a scout master, one of my parents run an auto shop. He showed me some lines from a used ram (late 90's) where the 2nd owner never changed the brake fluid (about 8 years). Amazing they did not get in an accident, front lines were almost gone from corrosion and one was completely plugged up. Owner brought in the truck since it was swerving when he braked - ya - only a single caliper was braking.

Yes, this has been discussed quite a bit here. Haven't discussed fighting for a recall much. Maybe it isn't as bad as the Fusion.

as an FYI - I used the tow hitch on the front of the truck to pull someone stuck in a ditch out. After... I ended up with a brake line leak, and was told the brake lines were aging and should have been replaced...

I didn't think brake lines are a consumable, and it was an expensive job unfortunately which left me stranded in the middle of a mountain road

The hard brake lines are different than the rubber brake hoses. They are metal, so can corrode and need replacement at some point.

Rubber brake lines are absolutely an item that should be checked regularly as a vehicle gets up in age and mileage. Hard brakes lines, especially untreated, or even treated steel lines are an item that should be checked periodically, especially if you're in an area that has rust issues or uses salt to treat the roads in the winter. I personally wouldn't give them a second thought if there's no sign of rust anywhere else on the truck. But once start seeing rust, it's definitely time to start inspecting them now and then.

Going through the same. Had driver front caliper sticking a bit. Made a repair last weekend and almost couldn't back off the caliper pistons until I aligned the hose as straight as I could with the caliper fitting. Then I was able to back off the caliper pistons. Being up in Canada the fittings and front hard lines look pretty crusty as well so I ordered up hoses and hard lines (ABS pump to caliper). They should get here mid week. I'll do a brake fluid flush at the same time.

Did you install the pads correctly, its easy to put them back together in the wrong location which will make it seem like your calipers are locking up. The pad with the two tabs on the top go to the inside.

Yep. The inside and outside pads are actually a different shape so if you look at them when you take them apart you’ll notice that they will only work properly one way. I could see how it could happen but would have to think that the caliper would be really tight when reinstalling it because the pad would be cocked a bit.
