2013 F 150 rear window defroster not working

So i get in my 2013 F 150 and go to hit the rear window defroster button and it fails to come on. Checked fuses not the problem. Any ideas?

You don't want to use it anyways.... unless you want to be putting in a new window.

Did you purchase your truck new or used?

Also, do you have the ability to see if the auto-defrosting side mirrors work after depressing the rear window defrost switch? From the factory, the back glass and heated side mirrors are on the same switch though the icon only designates the rear glass.

Many (with myself included) have simply disconnected the rear spade terminals to the back glass due to the shattering issue. While my switch does not illuminate after being pressed (because the back glass is disconnected), the side mirrors still defrost as they should.

There is a very good chance its the contacts in the sliding window. You can get the straw on a can of contact cleaner in the slot and spray it good. Then work the window back and forth. Its easier to see the contacts from the bed side.

It worked for me but I have to keep cleaning the contacts every once and a while.

unfortunately only fix is to replace rear WINDOW USUALLY .. I HAD TO REPLACE MINE THEY DID IT UNDER WARRANTY .. however for some people it does explode luckily I have not had that happen ... or as one guy mentioned you can A disconnect rear window or B complete the circuit ( search for this ) and button will light just for mirrors

My rear defroster stopped working a month after I hit 36k miles and lost the bumper to bumper warranty. I've been meaning to clean the contacts and see if that helps, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I know the busting rear window phenomenon is a real thing, but I'd rather be able to safety see out my back window and will take my chances. I've had to replace rear glass on just about every truck I've owned anyway, I'm pretty good at it at this point if I do say so myself...

The same thing happened to my truck.

I found out yesterday that I need to replace the rear window. The shop is checking with my extended warranty company to pre-approve repair.

I've owned pickups my entire life and I've never needed to defrost the back window. I've had to clean the snow off of it if it's blowing, but never a defrost situation.

I never had to until I had crew cabs. I guess it takes more to get the heat back there. It's really only bad after doing activities like skiing where your clothes get wet and sweaty and start to steam up the windows on the drive home, and it's even worse when you have 4-5 people in the truck.

Mine would not come on and it was that the sliding window was slightly open.
