Default 2013 Ecoboost MPG Questions

So I just picked up a 2013 lariat with 3.55 gears. 10 hour drive home and averaged 15 mpg going 65 mph. So I'm disappointed to sY the least. Vehicle has 18k miles on it. Temperature on the way home was 29F. Where would you guys start? Would the dealer look at something like this?

well first you are going to get told its a truck and to buy a prius. lol

I feel your pain. I have just jumped over 13 mpgs lifetime. it seems either guys get good mileage or bad mileage. unfortunately I get bad. dealer is no help and I think it has something more to do with Ford than anything. good luck

No there is nothing materially wrong. First, 29 out ill hurt mpg by 1-2 alone IMO. Also, any head winds? If so that can hurt 2-3 mpg easily.... I have gotten that on hwy before in those conditions. But lifetime avg mpg for me with same truck as you is 17, including thousands of miles towing 5-8 k lbs. so check your avg mpg rather than one trip.

Too many variables to tell...headwind, hills, proper tire inflation, possible fouled spark plugs, etc.

I travel from Wisconsin to michigan via the upper peninsula in that snow storm last night. I had a tailwind for 75% of the trip. I put 87 octane in. I also noticed the last trip set was 15.1 over 5552 miles. I'd be fine with that combined, just not highway. Maybe it's a winter fuel thing. Don't quite understand cold temps having an affect.

I would say that 87 octane has something to do with it...

6k miles on mine. Lifetime average 13.9. Mostly highway speeds. Only difference is I have 3.73s. So far I'm extremely unimpressed with the mileage

I might try premium next fill up. Just wondering if the extra $10/tank will negate any mileage increases. Wish I could get alcohol free gas but the only local place wants 60 cents extra
