Default 2013 Ecoboost fuel milage

So heres the deal. My wife wanted a more aggressive look to her truck, so after months of research I installed a 2" leveling kit and got a set of 20X9 wheels with a +1 offset. I wrapped them in a set of 305 55r20 nitto terra tires. I was expecting a little MPG loss but not what we got. The tires are only 1.2 inches taller than factory and on a 5 hour trip today we only got 13.4 MPG. I know the numbers on the odometer are a little off but, not enough for the 5 MPG that we have lost. Is this normal? I guess we will have to go down to 285 55R20 if this is the way its going to be.

They might only be a little bit taller. But those tires are a lot wider and heavier the the originals. That's is where you lost your mpgs from.

As mentioned above it is the addition weight. I lost probably 3 mpg with mine. But tuning it brought me back to stock mileage. My next tires will be 285's to save weight.

I just changed out my OEM 275 55r20 to Firestone AT 275 60r20 and haven't noticed any MPG reduction. However that's only about a 1/2" taller and probably not that much heavier. I can live with a slight MPG reduction but yours is ridiculous. That would be a lot of coin over the life of the tires.......

The nittos are not that much heavier. 55 lbs. Even with the lightest tire out there they only add 100lbs to the truck. If thats enough to take away 4 mpgs off the highway miles I think its time to trade this junk in. I get better fuel millage out of my 02 Powerstroke that has 275K miles on it with three bad injectors.

The leveling kit shouldn't make any difference but the tire size will. Another contributing factor would be your gearing. If you have higher then 3.73 gears your mileage will really suffer. I would guess with that loss you have something like 3.55. That what I have in my 09 5.4L. I just put 35-1250s on it and I lost 5 mpg on highway. I'm going to tune it though which should help get some of it back but I wasn't expecting it to be good with that size tire anyway.

Agree! Something doesn't sound right. Be nice to slip on a set of OEM size tires and actually see if the mpg returns? Are you 100% positive of your mpg before making the changes? Have you checked your oil to see if you don't have an injector leaking fuel? Losing 4 mpg is about a 25% reduction in MPG which does seem excessive to me.

Just leveled mine about a month ago and added 35s. I'm getting an average of 14.7 mpg. There seems to be no consistency between different vehicles because everyone drives differently, different terrains, elevations, etc...

I think your MPG is right in line with the modifications you did to your truck. Don't blame the truck for what you did to it...
