Default 2013 ecoboost front end sag.

Hey all, little bit of a different question. I have a 2013 max tow 6.5 crewcab ecoboost that I leveled with 5100’s (max height setting) with air bags in the rear.

went with a 285/75R17 on a 17x8.5 with a 0 offset. Truck has 137,000 miles on it and 95% of those miles are interstate.

now before I put the tires on I had 275/60/20’s that would rub the inner fender in a full lock turn with a little body roll or in reverse ( which I thought was weird)

i then went and put the 5100’s on got rid of my rubbing. However couple thousand miles later the rubbing came back.

I then went to the 285/75/17’s with the 0 offset wheel, had to do quite a bit of fender trimming to make them work but got it done. Eliminated all the rubbing on hard lock turns or angles (driveways curbs and such) and only would get a rub if I was in a decent turn and hit a super hard bump.

fast forward 2,000 miles. And my rubbing is back on slight bumps in turns such as the drive way or body roll while turning.

What the heck? Are the 5100’s just not as good of a shock as I remember and my front end is starting to sag or what? What is my culprit?

Not to throw a wrench into things, but I do also have a winch grill guard with 12k winch on it. However install date for that was after the 275/60/20’s starting rubbing again with the 5100’s installed but has been on before the 285/75/17’s were put on. Also grill/winch combo has only been on for 5,000 miles, I know I should expect a little sag with the weight but since it happened before and now is doing it again I gotta think it’s not the grill guard.

do i need to look at the ranch coil lift? Or I have heard about putting F250 coils on. would that help compensate for the weight while also taking pressure off the shocks if my coils are really that worn out? What is the life expectancy on factory coils? The truck has had a pretty easy life.

my biggest issue is I hunt elk in winter and not having chains is a bad idea. Rear wheel clearance isn’t an issue but the rubbing in turns will chew up my fenders with snow chains. If a stronger coil would bring my front end up to give me that little extra room that I need I will be happy but I’m not really looking to spend $1,000 or more on a 3 inch kit.

Sorry for the long post, pic of truck for thoughts

The factory front springs on our trucks range from 394lb/in to 834lb/in depending on the configuration. If your truck doesn't have the 7-lug heavy duty payload package you can order the HDPP springs which were either 714lb/in or 834lb/in depending other other options such as engine and 4WD vs 2WD.

I'm not sure which of these are 714lb/in and which one is 834lb/in, but the 3 springs listed as being for the HDPP in aftermarket catalogs are 8L3Z5310A, 8L3Z5310Y, and 8L3Z5310Z. If you can accurately measure the diameter of the wire on your front springs you can tell what spring rate you currently have.

That’s a big jump from the lightest spring to the heaviest. Do you know if a 250 spring is the same diameter to fit in the spot or am I’m restricted to the heaviest 150 spring on the list?

I don't know off hand, but they mount very differently so I'd be surprised if F250 springs did in fact fit.

Maybe I’m thinking of the 80’s and 90’s fords. I see a thread pop up here and there about f250 springs but they could be on the older trucks. I haven’t seen anything about newer ones.
