2013-14 OEM Remote start poor range fix

I installed a "Power Magic Pro" in mine using add-a-fuses. I did because I didn't want to drain the battery and it was impacting my remote start range with the dashcam powered up.
Here is a write up on the install (I also have the same dashcam as the link). Let me know if you have any questions.

So I went to the dealer to address my broken rear glass and also asked about this TSB. Long story short, they initially pushed back on the TSB but both issues I went in for are going to be covered under factory warranty. Good timing too as I'm in my last year and within 17K kms of expiry

Yes the dash cams will interfere with rs operation mine does, at least with the 100 series rs this thread was made for. I just unplug it when I get out and plug it back in when I go some where.

Yup, looks like the R/S was interfering. Unplugged it Wednesday while working and when getting to leave work at 6am, Thursday i started it from inside my job.

I just added the longer coax cable and mounted the antenna up in the headliner. The hardest part of the job was getting the plug for the old antenna out of the module under the dash. Like some others I just pulled the door seal and ran the cable up that way, making sure to get the cable over the top of the airbag. Pull the antenna out of the plastic case and tuck over the headliner. As soon as I get out to test the range I will report. If this works it will be the best money spent so far.

A test of the range today at work. Where I used to have to go into my supervisors office, open a window and hope that the truck would start if parked toward the rear of the lot, I was standing in the hall outside his office and it started!! A few more tests, but, it looks like this is a huge improvement and is how it should have been set up from day one!

I did this last week and I have to say that it is the best 27 dollars I've ever spent. I used to have trouble starting the truck from 30 ft away whether I had line of sight or not. Now I can start it from across the parking lot. Where I walk out to my truck is about 350 ft, possibly longer. I walked out Friday afternoon, hit the lock button, remote start button twice, boom started. I didn't even have a full view of the truck, I could see part of the hood and windshield.
This should have been installed from the factory.

wow glad I found this thread, thanks RNLcomp!
my RS (100 series) used to work great, but it's gotten to the point that I can't even unlock the doors sometimes with the fob directly above the windshield. I had installed a dashcam, but can't recall if the problems started before or after ... i'm going to try turning it off and see if that's the issue because I keep the cam on 24x7 - seems like it'll probably be the culprit based on the comments above **EDIT: yep, it was the dashcam ... my lock/unlock and remote start are back to normal.... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
that said, for $20 or so I couldn't agree more with the "what was ford thinking" by putting the antenna low and shielded by steel ... so even if the camera is the cause of my reduced performance, i'm still going to add the extension. very cool, because I have the 'jimmyjammer' installed so I don't have a key option to unlock the door anymore = some moments of concern that I couldn't get in!
