2012 SuperCrew Subwoofer Install - Fox Box
I recently upgraded my stock stereo system with a Fox Acoustics dual 10" subwoofer box. I went with 6.5 Alpine components up front and 6.5 coaxial in the rear. I finished it off with a pair of JL Audio 10W3 subwoofers. I kept the factory head unit because I am waiting for something that has it all. The 8 screen on the new Alpine is nice but you lose the sync function. The new Kenwood models retain sync but you get a smaller screen and you lose Sirius. I have a 500 GB Hard Drive in the glove box connected to the USB-2 port and I love how it works with the Sync system. If anyone is thinking about adding subwoofers, I cant say enough good things about the Fox Box. It is built extremely well in my opinion, and has incredible sound capability for such a low airspace box. I will say the JL Subs are overkill, I could have gone with a less expensive model. With the bass up it hits so hard it gives me a headache, on the flip side nothing rattles on the truck which is nice.

With the new alpine unit, doesn't it have Bluetooth calling, and come with the kit to make all the steering wheel controls work? If so, then isn't that all was sync does anyway? What else do you use the sync for...I just use mine for the ipod and to make phone calls. I do like the looks of that headunit but no way am I spending that much money on a radio.
On the other side, I love my fox box. I have mine loaded with 2 alpine type S's and it slams.

With my hard drive plugged in, Sync indexes all of my songs so I can quickly jump to a favorite song, album or genre. Sync also reads my text messages outloud, and I like the overall voice control options and menu access that Sync responds too.

Man am I glad I found this thread! I ordered a dual 10 vented fox box last night, and I've been wondering where I will be able to mount my amps at. I've got the same 4 channel alpine pictured above and a kicker mono for my subs. I have a screw as well and had a couple questions. Did all you guys mount your amps behind the rear seats and how did you go about attaching them? Also, do they not get hot back there? I'm not an expert on audio at all, I'm handy enough to know my way around wiring everything up and have basic knowledge of the stuff, but not much beyond that. Do they need a lot of space to breathe or are they fine behind the seats?
