you know some would say your doing no good buy driving it all old farting to brake it in. you need to jump on it and let the motor slow it self down for the first say 500 miles you will set the rings better. lest thats what some say and its worked great fro me so far!

I Own 1988 GMC 3500 6.2 Diesel it has 478,000 KM's and the only thing that has ever been changed is the Transfer pump, and not that it needed it but a newer version gave it 200 miles to the tank. Its hauled 5th wheels 35ft trailers now hauls my 8ft camper around like its not even there.....other then routine maintance & stuff like batteries and starter and alt, thats all thats ever wore out on it.........Just making a point.....here it is.....
Our 2008 FX4, wife has a lead foot, and man that truck hauls *** she has always driven like its stolen, she has owned Mustangs and well it seems to have carried on to her trucks she owned......lol... and the performance that thing has is un real. I do believe there is a time and a place to wind them up but not everytime stick your foot into it......just my thoughts I was bored ..lol......so I answered..lol hahahaha.....Cheers!

I have 1,000k miles on my truck. At 70 I am getting anywhere from 17.6-20MPG. That is with 33" Nittos that weigh 11 pounds more per tire. I'm averaging 16.9MPG with 50/50 city/highway.

I have 2012 lariat 4x4 with 5.0 3.73 gear it has 4000miles on it and it get 19.5-21.0 on the hwy and gets 16.0 -17.5 in city. I also drive it easy no jack rabbit starts. But I have noticed the fuel mileage drops after 80mph on hwy. I am very happy with the fuel mileage on this truck.

Despite the fact that your 34's might only weigh a few lbs more than stock (5lbs more sounds on the light side anyway) they're still creating more rolling resistance; those stock Pirelli's are a pretty smooth street tire. Bumping up to a more aggresive 34 will definitely hurt your mileage.
Mine was getting pretty crappy mileage to start with but at 1200kms your truck isn't even close to broken in. By the time I hit 20-30,000kms I was consistantly hitting 10L/100kms.
Final thought; if you're lifting your truck and slapping 34's on it, who gives a **** about fuel mileage, haha. I hear the new Fiesta's get great mileage.

the 5lbs is dead on!!!!! I used Tire Rack specs where I bought the Tires from and used there specs for the Pirelli's
When your talking 10 mpg to 16 or 18 mpg thats huge!!
it has to be the calibration, I fueled up last nite at around half a tank 70L and was Impressed what it cost me, almost the same as my supercharged GTP for the 2 weeks about 15 dollars more......so the count is down, 1,512KM.....fill up in a week and see what its at.....

Give it time to break in! My truck consistenly got 13.6-13.7 L/100K after I hit around 20,000kms mixed driving. Your engine has to work harder to turn your larger diameter tires.

It always puzzles me to read about someone who has spent hundreds if not thousands lifting a truck and putting on bigger wheels/tires and then complains about gas mileage. For one, their pointless mods make for worse fuel economy, and the amount spend on the mods could pay for a dozen+ tanks of gas.

The stock tires went on my Wife's FX4 which are stock on her's, It was CHEAPER to buy my Tires, then it was to Buy the Pirelli's to put on her FX4
Out of the Lot this truck got 23L/per/100Lwhich is 10 MPG.....guys are saying they are getting wayyyyyyyyyy more Mileage then Me!
with the tire change and K&N Kit Im getting 19-20L/per/100L
So Third, Im not complaining, Im trying to figure out why such a difference, not what its costing me.....If I was worried about GAS I wouldn't of bought the truck, plus I have a Diesel and V6 Car.
So YOU! don't have a F'in clue what your talking about!
have a nice day

LaBrash, how many days or miles did you put on your original stock truck before you started doing your mods? I'm just curious if you had it long enough to establish a good base mpg before the mods. Also, do you tow often?
Thanks.
Thanks.
