Default 2012 OEM HID Upgrade

OK, so I spent the money and bought the OEM HIDs from eBay and ordered the harness from Tux.

After an anxious month-long wait for pigtails to get the harness delivered, I finally installed them last night. Appropriately finishing in the dark.

Now many people have seen pics of the retrofits, or stock bulbs or the Rigid bars but here's a pic of the HID compared with stock halogen running SilverStar Ultras both in high beam.

Wow that's a difference and a half! Can't wait to get some FXR's done.

Which ones did you get..the chrome ones or the blacked out FX4 lights?

The mod looks lazy dog approved

Dang! Now i'm really glad I added that lux package to my KR. I JUST wanted the lights, but it would have cost me a fortune to add after the fact.

I agree with Hardcore, the dog certainly approves. Also love your bumper pusher/light rail. What did that all that run you?

These are the blacked out version.

And yes, the dog approves. But he approves anytime I open the suicide doors...

The bull bar was $385 IIRC and the lights were like $140. The license plate relocation bracket was another $25.

Thanks everyone! I'm really happy with the upgrade. Definitely a wider, whiter beam and high beams are out of this world.

The harness worked flawlessly but is apparently designed to go on ONE way. I mounted the morimoto box inconspicuously behind the battery on a bracket that was there and the harness was way too short for that. So then I put it behind the washer bottle... then I couldn't reach the driver's side. Finally, I Just mounted the morimoto box behind the headlight and called it good. An extra 6 inches of wiring on the passenger side and a foot extra on the driver's side would have been perfect.

Man all those light housings look good. That bull bar wouldn't work on an ecoboost would it? Since you need that hole in the middle for the intercooler...

I'm sure Ford would void your warranty if you tried it... But the skid plate is removable if you just want the bar.

Lights were $950 and included bulbs, ballasts, and housings. Basically everything except the harness. Here's the current eBay link:

The harness, at last check, was $115 and is sole-sourced from TuxedoBlack11 (Joseph) here (his web site is http://www.projectoretrofits.com.)
