2012 FX4 Reset TPMS not going well??
I have a 2012 FX4 with 193k miles. Got new wheels and TPMS sensors that vendor said are 315mz and compatible with Ford pickups. When I go through the reset process for setting the new sensors when I get to Train Left Front driver side and let the air out...its honks twice and basically fails. What might be up with it failing out?! we tried with a tpms tool and found the it cannot train new sensors and refers to ford manual for the best way to do this. but again when I do it I get a double honk after first tire which books says it failed. WHY what can i try to correct the situation?!
Thank you all.
Thank you all.

Have you driven the vehicle since the sensors were changed? If not it's likely they are in sleep mode, take a drive around the block above 30mph for 10-20 mins then try to train them.
If you have driven then it's time to get into diagnostics, most likely a bad sensor but no way to know without testing.

Yeah I did it right after driving home from work. 46miles on the expressway but maybe I should do it again and try it again as I dont think it was sitting 30 min but who knows?! worth a shot!!
we were spending some time first using the autel tool before we went to factory method....maybe it did go into sleep mode?! will check.....and do again.....not a bad idea...go back the basics.....KISS.....right Keep it Simple Stupid!!

i bought this and it has worked flawlessly for me:
i first used it on my stock wheels and sensors when i put them on for the winter and they needed to be setup on the correct places (had rotated them and the fronts were showing up as the rears). i then used it for my aftermarket wheels and sensors when i installed them and had no problems.

The way you worded your OP....did they put 315mhz sensors that work for a 2012 F150? The 2015+ trucks are the same frequency, but do not work on a 2012.

I saw that being used and wondered...something else though I read said it only worked with STOCK FORD sensors. again these are aftermarkets that are supposed to be able to be programmed as ford or work with Fords and runs on the 315mhz freqeuncy ford does.
But you said worked with your aftermarkets...Hmmmm maybe if I continue to have troube I may pick one up. Thanks

Hmmmmmmm
looking back again it just lists them as (BLack) 315Mhz clamp in TPSM sensors... part # RS1-590884 but they know or knew per the inv also that the vehicle was a 2012 Ford F-150 but again the send 14x1.5 lug nutz too so that doesnt mean anything.
ive reached out to them to verify. we will see what they come back with. they sent me 14x1.5 lug nuts which I think are for newer Fords vs my year wich has 14.2 lug studs on it. so......
I will email them to ensure these are supposed to work for my vehile.

i had a similar problem with a forum sponsor, custom offsets. bought a set of wheels and tires from them and they shipped me the wrong lugs for my '13. then they sent the right ones, but only 20. after the 2nd call they finally got it right and sent the rest of them. fwiw they are also the ones who installed the aftermarket TPMS that worked with the programmer i linked above.
