A lot of the huge rebates are in Canada. There is a pricing deference between Canada and the US that allows ford to offer larger rebates. A truck is up to 10% more in Canada while the dollar is nearly on par. My trucks MSRP was over $52,000. Starting in July Ford Canada offers A-Plan pricing (employee pricing) and a delivery rebate of between $6500 and $7000. They are actually selling the vehicle at slightly below dealer cost but then Ford kicks back 3-6% of the sale if the dealer meets the sales targets. If you know all of this going in you can still negotiate some of the kick back into the sale. Most dealers are happy to take $1000 or so from an easy sale. I think the dealer made around $1300 on my sale.

I negotiated 'free' stuff I wanted as part of negotiating down the price. This works well because the dealer just sees it at cost so his profit margin is still there where if you bought the stuff you would pay retail. I got $1000 worth of free stuff and didn't pay the $399 admin fees but on the dealer side he sees he is only giving $700 worth of a discount. It's just psychology. You have to give the dealer choices and benefits. It's all a game in the end.

BTW at the end of everything I paid more than $13,000 below MSRP and got $1000 worth of stuff as well. And the dealer was one truck closer to making his target and getting paid $1300 for selling me the truck plus he made a quick $1000 on the turnaround of my trade but in Canada that is another story.

@elbo

You have obviously been doing some research. If I were you I would try out a service like truecar.com, consumerreports.org, or one of the other free referral services and see what you get. Yes...it will put you on the radar of some dealers in your area but you'll get a better idea of what the "local" dealers are willing to do. I quoted the word local because the dealers that called me were at least 2.5 hours away. Granted I live in rural Missouri but I digress. Worst case the dealers can't/won't be able to get to a price you're comfortable with and you have to say "no thanks."

The rebates go by your zip code, not the location you buy it in.

The best prices I've gotten so far have been from Truecar. I signed up for an account and it [unknowingly until after the fact] sent my information to a few dealers. It was $8245 off of sticker on an FX4 with luxury package and Ecoboost. I see people say that they do better than that, but I've yet to be quoted anything more than $8245 off (including $3k in rebates and $5245 dealer discount).

@ Elbo,

I see from your zip code (75035) you live in the DFW area. That makes it super simple! Just go to Jerry Reynolds website www.carprousa.com (and listen to him on Saturday morning on WBAP 820 AM)Select "Certified Dealers / Dallas-Ft Worth" Follow the directions and select one of the Sam Pack Dealerships and follow those directions. Go to the dealership and have fun.

I went to Ford Country in Lewisville and got a price of $500 under Invoice as a start and THEN they subtracted the rebates. Absolutely no haggling, pressure, games or hassle it was great. They had to get my truck from a sister dealership in Plano and it was in Lewisville within 2 hours. Wonderful experience I would even say it was fun! Jerry's son (BJ) works at the 5 Star in Carrollton and even posts on this forum occassionally but any of the Sam Pack dealers will treat you right.

I have purchased my last 2 cars using Jerry and I will forever do it this way. Sooo if you live in Texas you have it EASY.

Be aware of what rebates and incentives are from Ford motor company and not the dealership. When I bought mine, there was "employee pricing" which is a huge rebate (up to 12,000 off) to get rid of the 2012's and this came from Ford motor company. So any dealer that said "well you're gettin 12,000$ off, we can't go any lower" is a bunch of BS! Ford takes the hit on this, not the dealership. So you can tell them that! Also just send out an email to as many dealer's as possible and ask for their "absolute best price", and go with them. I am not a huge negotiator, and am not the greatest at it so instead I emailed 11 dealerships and ended up with a smokin deal

That's kind of where I am headed. I would like to know what the possibilities are, i.e. go in somewhat educated. I have been dealing with Bankston Ford Frisco, and they are dancing around the rebates. They just give me a price, that looks like it doesn't really add up to all the rebates. I know that is just to start, and I will do a email blast..

According to kelly blue book, for some reason FX2's don't have many rebates.

The one's I'm trying to see if they apply to FX4 are

12112 $500 for 5.0 V8 (if you get the 5.0 of course)

and
34128 which is an additional $500 on trade in, above the $1000 trade in?

Thanks..

Hi Elbo,

Did you end up buying anything? I'm in the DFW area and looking at 2wd 2012 XLT Screws and the best price i can get at the moment OTD is $29,997 with a sticker of $37,000. It doesnt really seem particularly good when people talk about FX4's for around $30,000.

I'm guessing they are not including TTL but i have no idea. Anyway let me know how you got on, it could really help me.

Thanks

Okay, I was originally looking for a FX2, but apparently for whatever reason, there are all most no rebates on the FX2's, you can essentially get a FX4 for allmost the same price due to all the rebates that kick in on it. So I'm going to go for a FX4 or even a XLT. I have been out of town for a few days, and still have to sell my old truck.

The best deals seem to be in Houston, but I have yet to do my email blast to see what deals can be had.

Do you have your $750 coupon yet.

The best I can tell you should be able to get these rebates, but hardly any apply to FX2. Most of the deals I have been offered so far, basically are retail minus these rebates. Which is nuts of course.

Ford Bonus Cash $1000 #12152
Ford Trade In $1000 (doing a trade in) #34050
Ford Trade In Bonus Cash $500 (doing a trade in ) #34128
Coupon from Brochure $750
Ford Cutomer Cash $2000 #12150
XLT Cash $1000 (only on XLT) #12046
5.0 Engine Bonus $500 (I think this applies outside of XLT's) #12112

also there is Year of Sirus Radio #11910

The forumula I came up with is find Invoice on Edmunds, it's tricky to pick out the right options so compare to building out your own Ford and make sure the Retail prices match up.

Then take the invoice price subtract $500 to $850 or whatever you think the dealer can get under invoice. Then subtract the rebates you qualify for. This should give you a rough target price. For most trucks this should be approx $10,000 off MSRP (lower line), on a FX2, it's going to be more like $7500

Even with these numbers I still see people claming the beat that by even more. On some of the XLT's I guess you can pull $12,000 off lower line MSRP.

There still seems to be a lot of 2012s on the lots, maybe the dealers in DFW will start getting a bit more aggressive in selling the 12's once the 13's start rolling in.

So far I have just worked with Bankston, and I have only gotten the run around for every question I have asked.

I will keep updating as I move forward, and look to see how you do as well.

I should add, that if you look in other threads on here, there are people still getting over $10k off on FX2's so it must be possible.

After Labor Day should be better. Please don't tempt me 2013' models.

I don't have the coupon and i'm guessing its going to take a while to come. I need the truck before the weekend really. I'm not trading BTW so lose out on that rebate.

Sounds like we are in a similar situation. I'm looking at the 2012 XLT Screw with the custom package. It basically makes it look similar to an FX2 but with the smaller 3.7 engine which i want. Also no chrome which is a bonus!

Right now i have Grapevine offering me $29998 TTL included. OTD.

I have Southwest offering roughly the same the same, they have a kicker though. Their truck comes with limited dif rear axle (+$400) rather than the regular axle, keypad entry (+$75) and they offer the southwest promise of a lifetime guarantee on the engine + a whole bunch of tire rotations and oil changes for the first 2 years.

So basically at the moment southwest are going to get my business. I honestly feel like with the new trucks coming up and the end of month coming i should be getting this truck for less than $29k TTL OTD. I may be way off though.
