My FX4 has the Auto or Off options for both seats.

I have an FX2 and I too have the Auto/Off options. I can confirm that when placed in the Auto position the seats will cool when the truck is hot enough. I don't know what the threshold is but they do turn on.

My main issue now is that because my truck didn't come from the factory remote start my Ford dealer is saying that my truck doesn't support turning on the heat and cooled seats.

I would like to hear from people that had a ford remote start system installed at the dealer and if they can see the "driver" and "passenger" settings under the remote start menu.

When the seats turn on when using the remote start, do the bottoms illuminate on the dash for each seat?

...No illumination. And, though the seats do cool/heat with factory remote start---they do shut off when you insert key & turn the ignition. You always must remember to manually switch them back on. At that point, the dash indicators illuminate & allow for adjustment. Not the most user-friendly interface, but a great feature requiring just a single driver input.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have the factory installed remote start and noticed the buttons did not illuminate when using the remote start. I just figured the seats did not automatically kick on. Good to know they do work and all I need to remember is to press the button after I put the key in the ignition. Thanks again!

I did confirm with Ford Canada that if the truck isn't ordered with factory remote start then it comes with the basic menu display module and a different version of the powertrain control model.

So basically my truck doesn't support controlling the seats with the aftermarket ford remote start system.

...my pleasure, you're quite welcome !! Of course, the system does require it to be set on "auto" in the seats climate control menu. To double check, a fail-safe is to put your ear to the seat after your remote start---you can easily hear it working, per design. An option that literally saved my butt this brutal Arizona summer !

I have the same issue. I have everything set to auto and even when its 50 degrees outside my seats are never warmed up for me.

It is very possible that the dealership install the remote starter after receiving the vehicle from the factory.

That would explain why you have remote start when you bought it, yet it doesn't have this function. The remote start for these vehicles is a simple plug and play, it's not impossible that the dealer install them as a sales incentive.
