Question 2012 F150 fuse tap issue

I purchased low profile mini fuse tap to power a backup camera I’m installing in my 2012 F150. The problem is that the shoulders of the fuse tap don’t allow the fuse tap to properly seat into the slot in the fuse box. Are there special fuse tapes needed for the F150?

I had to trim the plastic around where the fuse went in order for it to ft all the way in. I was a little disappointed in that. It should fit exactly but it didn’t.

Thanks, I was considering that, but first I wanted to see if there were any other options.

The "mini" add-a-circuit will not fit correctly....
You need the ATM regular size add-a-fuse.

You will need 2 new standard ATM size fuses to go into your new add-a-circuit.

The width of the ATM is exactly the same as the "ATM mini", but is higher and will push right into place.

It's possible the black fuse cover will not go back on unless you modify it.... or just leave it off. It still protected by the kick panel.

This.

I used the regular mini size add a circuit tap when I added a dedicated hardwired connection for my GPS.

The cover will not go back on without modification, so I just left it off.

Default Fuse Tap for 2012 F-150 XLT

I've tried 2 different Fuse Taps and neither are working (both Bussman) to the previous posts, please explain how you got them to fit, if you did. Would appreciate ANY feedback. Would figure Ford would make their fuses to be more universal than this. There's absolutly NO info about Fuse Taps working on F150s, outside of this forum

thanks

It sounds like you don't know that you already learned something.

Had to trim down my fuse tap a little bit too. No biggie.

Default Rearview Mirror (picture in picture) power

Ok I have successfully tapped into the reverse lighting to power the rearview camera power, now my question is: how should I power the rearview mirror? currently I have it spiced with the green/red power cable (that is always on, and I see that a green power light is always on on the review mirror, even when the key isn't in ignition) but ideally I should have it in an "only-when-activated" accessory power wire or it should be in the same reverse lighting power cable that the camera power is set as?

Default Tap

I had to file Low profile tap down as well as take a burr to the passenger side fuse box. Tap fits now.
