2012 F150 Crew with 5.0L Start Sytem Fault
Hi There,
Proud new F150 owner of 3 hours!! took it around to show family and friends and LOVE it!! Was about to head out for a quick drive, got it, all lights and everything came on fine. On the display I get
"Start System Fault"
Truck is dead... not even a slight turn over... I disconnected and re-connected battery and no change.
What the hell!? I am not a happy camper right now ...
Any suggestions or ideas??

For some reason these newer trucks have had loose fuses. My Sync stopped working and a few other people on the forum have had other issues. I believe Deerhunter4 actually had his truck die on him due to a blown fuse. He said he had a few fuses loose as well.
Most problems, including mine, went away after making sure all the fuses were pushed in all the way. Try this and look for blown fuses as well.
I am only talking about the fuses under the hood. I have not heard anything dealing with the fuses in the cab yet.
Good Luck!

I had that message too. But I was trying to tune my truck with an iTSX and it failed half way thought. I saw a bunch of warning lights/messages and most were normal. Not that one tho my truck was dead and no turning over either. The odometer would not show up anymore. Not much help but a free bump. I had to eventually send my PCM and iTSX to sct to have them test and re load a recovery tune file and send it back. I bet the dealer will need to flash your. Hope this helps.

Crap. That's not good on a brand new truck.
Sounds like something electrical - like the fuses that Shol'va suggested. These 2011 and up trucks are so electronic that it's a little scary.
Good luck man!

Tried the fuses, they did seem to be unseated a bit so pushed them all back down to ensure a good connection.
Wish I could say it made a difference still no start. Will have to wait for the dealer to open at 8am and see what they say...
This sucks! Beautiful brand new truck and a beautiful morning and it's just a lawn ornament right now.
I will keep everyone posted as to the solution (hopefully!)

Good point. There is a member on here that had all kinds of issues with his truck that lots of it was related to poor grounding. It was a *itch to find.
He also had other issues with his truck and ended up trading it for a 5.0 (had an EB) and is much happier now. I believe his user name is Ed Mccaffery... - may be spelled wrong.
Unfortunately, he just had a lemon - new truck was much better. When you make that many trucks, you're bound to get a lemon from time to time.

Well after what seemed to be an eternity (1 day) the dealer fixed the issue. Apparently there is a fuse below the ignition switch in the steering column and it was faulty. The tech said he had never heard of this before, makes me a bit nervous I have to say. But Good news is I have my truck back!!
Thanks for all the replies!!!
