We did chief joseph highway going into Cooke City in the winter, was 40* at like 2am and found out the stock Chevy trans temp gauge maxes out at like 220. Those 5.3 and 4 place's don't work well together. I could not imagine those switchbacks in the summer heat with a load, then again it is just a 5.3.

I would guess you have no problems, they test these things in some pretty extreme temps to find issues before consumers get them. Like someone said, just keep an eye on things and if the gauges really go south worry about it then. Honestly you will probably be in and out of DV before things have a chance to get bad. Hell ew drove a 70's motorhome with a 460 in it through there multiple times and even in traffic jams with no issues.

Make a note, and report your experience back to us when you return later in August.

I think you will find, your truck will perform so well on your trip, you will wonder why you even worried!?
