2012 EB with extended range owners: I need a VIN to look up parts
A pile of us with 2011 EBs want to upgrade the the 36 gallon extended range fuel tank. However, 2012 parts are not online and my parts guys says the best way to puzzle out what we need is to compare parts from a 2011 with a 2012 F150 that has the extended range tank.
All to say can you help a guy out and give me your VIN number so that we can look up the right part numbers?
PM it to me.
Thanks.
I'll post to this thread when I've got a VIN number.

Looking up Ford parts is gay.
The system is flat out retarded.
Also, the guy who claimed we need a tube didn't share what tube it is that we need.
Worse, Ford offeres three filler tubes from $78 to $230 each with no explanation of what is what.
And then there is the fact that Ford doesn't give the full part number.
I need an enthusiastic Ford parts guy because I have vin numbers from a 2011 and 2012 157" WB trucks to compare to puzzle out what we really need.

Lite Up The Twins
The 36 gallon gas tank is nice to have but I havent been able to fill it up yet.
I always stop at 100.00 and that still only gives me 3/4 of a tank. I can get almost 400 miles out of 3/4 of a tank though. lol

It is highly gay.
Basically, I went into the 2012 Ford parts DB everybody uses and flagged all of the 2012 parts. I then went into the 20111 and flagged all of the parts for comparison. Sounds smart, right? Then, when I went to compare the part numbers, the numbers I had off of the online Ford parts site were all the same from 2011 to 2012.
You ***s, Ford! Did Microsoft build your database?
Frustrated. I just called the parts guy at Wolf Motors and the parts guy thinks that the extended range tank is available as a Ford accessory. Anyway, the parts guy is going to call me back.
Now my ENTJ is showing because I want to round up everybody involved and shoot them for making me try harder.
Anyway I think I know we need for a 3.5L 4x4
Confirm part numbers as all of this was over the phone.

It sure is!
I was looking up interior trim parts yesterday. What a p.i.t.a. Each engine option in the same trim line has different interior parts availability so you have to check them all.
Hopefully someone will have useful info. I also hope that enthusiastic guy can confirm whether 157" wb parts and 145" wb parts are the same or not. I tend toward fantasy at times though....
I know THIS isn't useful info, just felt like ranting.

Eric-
Its a conspiracy to keep you from heating up the earth at a quicker rate. If they can inconvenience you by keeping you limited to 26 gallons of the devil's **** vs 36 -- at least the earth will stay a little bit cooler for a little bit longer.
sorry... had to.

What can I say but, burn, baby burn!
Anyway, I talked to Tousley Ford in MN who has aggressive prices online on the phone to confirm a comparison between 2012 and my 2011 VINs (both EB 4x4 157" WB).
Correction: the filler neck part number should be CL3Z9034A, not BL3Z9034B.
Prices from Tousley Ford are
- 36 gallon fuel tank 9L3Z9002C $397.18
- Sending unit 9L3Z9A299F $38.30
- Filler neck CL3Z9034A $40.57
- Heat shield BL3Z9A032A $57.29
Summed: $533.34
Everybody feel free to donate to the "Eric needs a bigger gas tank" fund.
