2012 bucket seats are VERY uncomfortable for me

Boost :)
The 2005 seats were a joke for me at best. Way too firm and had that plastic coating on top of them that didn't allow the conditioner to penetrate as well as it should. They never got soft enough for me. On the normal 4-5 hour drives that I make, I would have to stop at least twice due to back pain or *** pain or whatever.
The 2011 seats are a night and day difference to me. No more plastic coating (on mine at least, I've heard some that do have it) and they are much softer and have better ergonomics. I've already driven 13k miles in the 5 months I've had the truck and have yet to have any pain of any kind. Used leather conditioner 4 times already and they are quite soft now.
My wife and I just took a 3k mile round trip drive from Austin TX to San Diego CA and back a few weeks ago. 21 hour drive each way and never once had to stop due to any pain or discomfort from either of us. I was very impressed. I will say though to the thread starter, it does take a little adjustment here and there sometimes to get them just right.

So I ordered a 2012 F150 with leather bucket seats. Dealer called saying the truck was in and I went, all excited, to pick it up. On the test drive, I found the seats to be VERY uncomfortable for me. Where the seat hits my upper back, it seems to push me forward with my lower back largely unsupported. I did adjust the lumbar, which only helped a little. Maybe I'm too tall or too fat. I currently drive a Denali and have always thought the Denali seats were great.
Frankly, I was so disappointed that I walked away from the deal. For me, the wife's 02 Sport Trac has better seats. I love everything about the truck except the seats. Maybe I could grow to accept them. But I ain't willing to spend 40 large to find out.
Anyone with a similar experience?

The 2004 F150 had possibly the worst automotive seats ever made; in less than 50 miles or driving it I could not walk. At some point along the way Ford changed the design in a major way (08 or 09?). The 2011/12 are possibly the most comfortable seats available in any vehicle. With the new truck I am able to drive a full 500 miles with absolutely no pain or discomfort and no paralysis in my legs.

I had a 2005 FX4 and now have a 2011 FX2, both of course with black leather. I am 6'2" and right about 270lbs. I use leather conditioner 3-4 times a year on all of my vehicles to keep the leather as soft as I can. I also travel a lot with my job and drive about 20k miles per year.

What brand of conditioner are you using?? I have leather seats for the second time. Last time was a Pontiac van (1998) with leather (not very good leather at that). I have the taupe colored leather and I want to keep up on it. I had an 08 FX4 with cloth seats but I have to say that the leg support is better with the 11s. I am not sure if it is b/c my seats are leather now or if they are structurally better than the 08. The 08 cloth seats were ok-just not great.

I'm 6'3" and about 220. The seats in my 2010 SCab XLT are very comfortable.
I test drove a 2010 SCrew for about 3 hours and I was worried because the driver's seat in that was really bad and it would have been a deal breaker. Tried sitting in a few trucks on the lot which were the same as the one I was ordering and they were all OK.
There's been a few of these seat threads so I guess it's possible to get lucky and and end up with one that's uncomfortable.

I'm 6'4" @ 275ish lbs. Love my 2011 Lariat leather seats, very comfortable! I drive at least a 6 hour trip every other week and sometimes more often. These seats are by far the most comfortable I've been in, that's coming from a Lincoln! The ergonomics are great, but I will agree that you have to take time to adjust the seats to you. They have so many different settings that its almost impossible to get them right the first time!

Thanks for the replies guys. Maybe I would grow to like them if I spent more time. I may go back to fiddle with the controls more. I'm 6'1" and about 270. But, I see larger guys here that have no problems. It's probably worth another shot. I did find the bottom of the seat to be VERY firm. But it was the back that really caused a problem for me.
