2012 bucket seats are VERY uncomfortable for me
#51
The 2004 F150 had possibly the worst automotive seats ever made; in less than 50 miles or driving it I could not walk. At some point along the way Ford changed the design in a major way (08 or 09?). The 2011/12 are possibly the most comfortable seats available in any vehicle. With the new truck I am able to drive a full 500 miles with absolutely no pain or discomfort and no paralysis in my legs.

We had a 2002 F150 with cloth seats and my wife and I loved those seats. We now have a 2012 F150 with cloth and our seats in this truck are terrible. When we go on a trip about an hour is all we can take and we have to stop and get out. When we get out our legs are hurting. The driver side seat it seams like there isn't enough padding and I can feel the frame. I am a big guy but my wife isn't. She said the same thing when she drives it. I wish I could have gotten leather and maybe it would have been better.

I've fiddled with the seating position on my 13 XLT daily for 13k miles, but I thought it was just me. No telescoping wheel on mine, and the steering wheel doesn't seem to tilt down far enough. I feel like I'm either reaching too far for the steering wheel or sitting bolt upright with the headrest pushing my head forward a little. There doesn't seem to be much in between.
2008 GMC Sierra, 94 Z71, and 98 Dodge Ram were previous vehicles. Never thought about the seats in them much, so they must've been pretty good. 94 Z71 I did feel too close to the steering wheel, but got used to it pretty quick, and admittedly they made the cabs of trucks quite a bit smaller back then.

The clothe seats in my 2012 are great! Much better than the Dodge I came from, and more comfortable than any of the other trucks I test drove.
I wish Ford made a desk chair version of this seat!
FYI, the driver's and passenger seat shape is exactly the same in all F150s from 2011 and up. The only difference is what they are wrapped in, what sits in between the front seats, and what's underneath the chair frame.

My seats are very comfy, except for the serious case of sweaty-*** I get on the unperforated leather. Cooled seats would be nice.

If someone reminds me in a couple of weeks, I'll post a photo of the mod I did to my seats. I'm 6'-3" / 34" inseam and have this issue.
All seats (chairs, airline, cars, etc.) target someone who is 5'-10".
I bought some 1" thick high-density foam and cut a 9x15 out of it. After shaping it (with a blending disc on my angle grinder) to fit that little 'hollow' just below the shoulders, I covered it with a piece of perforated leather I bought on eBay. I used 3M spray adhesive (#80 IIRC), then had a auto upholstery shop stitch the edges. I made another for the passenger seat about 6x9" (I had left-overs).
That area is where I have back problems, and after a couple of hours I would ache badly. Not so anymore! I drove over 600 miles the other day with no issues.
Oh, and if anyone is wondering if cooled seats are "worth it"? They are the BOMB!
