You might crack a valve if you are running no exhaust manifolds and the cold air hits it when you shut it off.
Melting your piston is possible if you are running too lean and burning a hole in the top can normally only be achieved is the injectors is dirty, worn or over fueled and is dumping raw fuel on the top of the piston.
As for 5.0 drone, can't help you there but 6.2 still has it with the resonator on and a Roush muffler.

Don't let anyone kid ya, same thing with a 5.0. Said it before, Roush needs to stick with Mustangs.
Only thing I gained from Roush was a lighter wallet, increase in NOISE, drone, and more drone, and loss of performance/mpg. BTW, the loss of mpg wasn't because I liked the noise and kept sticking my foot in it.

No drone at all. I come from a LONG run of modded Jeeps. Most had flowmaster 40 series so I pretty use to drone. But the 5.0 sounds sweet right now. And its not to bad noise wise after the first 5 - 10 seconds at start up. after that its pretty mellow, until I put my foot in it.
