M.YANCEY - I would NEVER use a fram filter....
+1

Have seen and referenced NUMEROUS vehicle manufacturers' TSBs regarding -NOT- using FRAM oil filters.

Motorcraft FL-500-S

He is giving you good advice. 500 miles is not enough time for engine break in, and a synthetic oil will not allow for a proper seating of the rings because well...it just lubricates too well. AT LEAST run it for 3000 miles before you change it, PLEASE, for me!

If synthetic oil "lubricates to well" why does Mercedes, Corvette use Mobil 1 right from the factory?...Do those engines have different type of piston rings?

When exactly should the first oil change be done? I really didn't see anything in the owners manual and the Dealer told me to bring it in when the TRUCK tells me too and they will do the first change "on the house". I know every new vehicle my Parents have purchased is was suppose to be done at 500 miles. Currently sitting at 800 miles.

My 2011 SCrew 5.0 had it's first oil change at 1100 miles, when it was six months old. Motorcraft full synthetic and Motorcrat filter were installed. For the first time in 46 years I didn't do my own oil change. I decided to let the dealer do it for a while, so that there was a service record for the warranty, and they will change it every six months. Currently it is eleven months old with 2,077 miles, and will be going in for the second change in about three weeks.

i was told that we only needed to go by the miles and not the date, for oil changes, and it would still be covered by warranty though past the change date.
