Default 2012 5.0 4x4 Problem

So my 2012 5.0 has 7500km on it now and its been making some really weird noises. Ever since the first time i used 4x4 it seems that it doesn't properly disengage or something. What happens is i will be driving along in 2x4 and everything is fine. Then randomly i will have a kind of grinding noise going along with the rpm of the tires which is definitely coming from the front wheels that will not go away until i engage 4x4 then put it back in 2x4.

Today it did it about 6 times on a 500km trip. I'm gonna try to get it looked at asap but i would at least like to know whats going on and if any of you have had similar problems.

Sounds like it needs a new half shaft up front. I just had the driver's side replaced twice. Had noise in 4x4 only, they replaced the axle. Then when I got it back it started an intermittent noise. Put it in 4x4 and it would go away. After a few miles it was constant. The shaft they put in wasn't lined up and needed replaced. Everything is back to normal.

It could also be you hubs losing vacuum. Is you steering affected, like driving in 4x4 on dry ground?
