I have a 2011 f150 with aftermarket tires and wheels that came with the truck. Now I'm considering buying stock 20" wheels off a f150 platinum. The original owner removed the sensors. My question....Is there any issue with having 2 sets of tires and sensors? Will the TPM system function OK after the tires are swapped out? I plan on using the stock wheels for towing and the larger aftermarket tires/wheels for daily driving.

What if I upgrade to new Terra Grapplers 305-55-20 on my existing OEM 20" wheels.

Do to TPS modules and bands have to be replaced?

I know the tire pressure on my truck now is like 40pounds and the new Grapplers will be like 50-60 pounds.

Is that going to make a difference?

the tpms haved to be re learned to the bcm when you do a tire rotate,
simply just have the new set up mounted and balcanced and then do the relearn as if you where doing a tire roatate. just make sure that old set up is more than 8 ft away when you do the relearn ,other wise you could confuse the bcm.

When you say "... the old set..." I don't understand? The old set of tires? I thought the module was on the wheels and I'm reusing the same wheels.

If you put new tires on the same rims you don't need to reteach the tpms

Aside from the low tire pressure light being on. Are there any other down side issues to running wheels with out the TPMS installed in the wheels (all 4).

Well it's against federal law to remove them and if you have a accident you and the shop can be sued. Also some insurance companies won't pay out it the accident is due to a blow out with no sensors attached. P.S. A piece of electric tape covers the light well. Lol

And I wouldn't go back to that tire shop, they won't be in open long if they don't do work on tpms systems. Half the work I do is oem to aftermarket tpms systems. Just have to make sure the new rims have the same inner lip on them. There will be a set of letter stamped on the inside of the rim after the size and width example 17x7.5 JJ. The JJ is the inner lip the sensor is formed to fit flush against.
Just bought some new wheels. They say 18X9 JET. What does that mean? Will my sensors work with these wheels?
