has anyone experienced the 3rd brake light leak on a 2011+ truck? just curious if the problem was indeed solved after 2010.

I had the leak on my 04 and my 09, I'm hoping not in my 2012 but wouldn't be surprised.

I toke mine apart and noticed the paper gasket they use around the screws were all ripped up. I put I ring on them and seams to be 80% better. I never had a leak but have noticed water behind the lense.

I noticed water behind my lens and when it rained it leaked, big time.

If there is water getting into the lens, your light is leaking.

The water has defeated the gasket if it has entered the lens, and next stop is the cab.

Watch your headliner back there and when the weather warms, you'll start smelling mildew.

The 3rd brake light can be deceiving. If you look closely at it, it is designed with an inner and outer shell. It is designed to allow water to run behind the plastic around the perimeter/edge. Take a look at my photo. I thought I had a leak, but as it turns out, the water is not behind the seal, but just behind the plastic edge. I ended up ordering a brand new one, but it is exactly the same. After it rains, water sits behind the plastic edge along the bottom until it evaporates.

If you see water behind it, you may not have a leaky gasket. If however, you notice water in the area where the light bulbs are (the inner shell), you have a gasket failure.

I also added rubber washers to the screws to replace the crappy paper ones Ford uses.

Just noticed after a rip to Quiznos in the rain, there's a sizeable spot at the back edge of my headliner, about 5 inches by 6 inches of water and there's water all over my hoodie in the back seat as well as soaked typed english essay due tomorrow and pre-scanned quad service invoices

Going to get it into Ford ASAP cause it's gonna rain all week!

My '11 leaked. I was keeping an eye on it though since I knew of the problem and had it replaced the first sign of water on the inside of the back window.

Mine first leaked last week,it ran down the inside rear passenger back window and a little on the seats.I guess it's coming from the brake light?
