Default 2011 Screw backseat latch broke

I was working on looking at the latch for the back seat, and when I went to let the back seat down, my handle snapped. (see pic). It won't let the seat down anymore, but I can reach down at the bottom hinge and push, and it will still let me put the seat down, so I can deal with it. I think the lever just pulls the hinge with a wire that goes there anyway.

Is there a way to take it apart and glue it? I don't see the screws. Or do I need to take it to the $dealer?

just go buy a new latch and install it yourself? glue isnt going to work very long.

The trim piece prolly just pops off with a screw driver or something but I havent looked for sure

I'll find the part number and get a new one. I'll just have to remember to be careful. I really did not expect it to break that easy.

Default warranty

i've never had an issue with my '11, so does the warranty not cover parts like this? seems defective to me.

I think I will wait for my next service appointment and see if its covered. If not I will ask how much and see the cost difference to replace it my self or have the dealer do it.

It seems defective to me. I did not really pull it hard when it broke.

I had the same problem several weeks ago. I barely pulled on the latch and it broke

New car warranty covers everything. Even this.

My latch just like the OP broke yesterday. Seems for something to need to pull that wire shouldn't be made out of plastic. Brought it to dealer and they are replacing it under warranty.

But this is going to break again, no doubt. What is the part number so I will know what it is going to cost me when out of warranty?

Also, the OP mentioned that he can manually get around this but where? I asked the dealer and they said the only way is via the latch that broke and I need to wait until the replacement comes in. Come on....

Hi RDFTS did you happen to find the part number for this item? Mine just broke, and it looks identical to the original posted photo
