Talking Remote Start Success

Went to dealer today to pick up my 100 series kit. They had it there waitin' as promised. Parts guy was curious since I had a couple of conversations on the phone trying to educate him so I opened the box and showed him it is definately plug and play.

Paid for it and out the door I went. I took the liberty to install it in their parking lot which took all in the way of 10-15 minutes (pictures from mattd17 took any guesswork out). Went back in the parts door and asked where the service advisor was. Parts guy looked kind of puzzled until I told him it was all installed and just needed activated. His reply was That's Awesome!

In the service door I go. Talked to the service guy that I had a couple of previous conversations with also to educate him about these units and handed him the instructions posted by caperj. He turned around and handed them to one of the techs. They took my truck in right then and there. A very short time later he threw the keys back to me and said all set. Now that is service!

Bottom line:
$250 for the unit, nuttin for installation and a whopping 15 bucks for activation. Can't beat that with a big stick. Best part is the whole setup being factory and no splices. SWEEEEEEET

Glad to hear it all worked out! I was really impressed with the plug and play setup. I have done several aftermarket units, and these ones take the cake!

I have the factory installed crappy one lol. Does anyone know if you can get the windshield antenna and add it to this one, as stated the range is terrible If so do you know what the part number is. Or do I have to get the 200 series and remove the factory one? Thanks

i believe that you can upgrade to the better unit, but you have to remove the factory unit, and plug in the new one.

i do not know if you have to get the computer reflashed, or not.

this has been done by at least one other member.... i believe a member from Alaska did it, maybe he will see this and let you know more.

No reflash necessary just the initial to get the remote start option activated.

I am waiting on receiving my remote starter kit:
BC3Z-19G364-A (unit with the two new keys)

Questions:
1) One dealer adviced I do not need them to activate anything? Is this true or do I need to go in and have added to menu?
2) With manual climate controls... is there anything that can even be set?
3) Can I purchase the automatic climate control and replace my manual control using the existing harness and plug connections?

If the dealer installs it they should activate it as well. If you install it you need to take it in to have it activated. You cannot change any settings with manual control not sure about other, but with manual you can turn climate control on, in winter here it warms truck up after 0c. Not sure about summer didnt have it then.

Dallas save yourself a couple of $$$ and just get the 100 series. The only difference is the bump alarm that comes with the 200. If you really want that of course then get the 200 but if you don't really care then no need to waste the money. You will need to remove the factory unit and install the entire 100 series setup if I understand it correctly. This is a piece of cake...almost laughable how simple it is. You dont even need to crawl under anything.......you can do all of it sittin on passenger seat and standing beside the truck. I opted to remove the pillar trim and the chicken handle when I installed rather then go behind weatherstrip. Makes for a cleaner installation IMO and avoids the risk of possible antenna wire damage

BT4Z-19G364-A is the 100 series part #
BB5Z-19G364-C for the 200

Started mine after work today from a distance of about 400' through a reinforced block wall (Industrial size not your typical basement block). Started right up first try. I will keep trying from further distances with more obstruction just to see what I can get away with.

The vehicle does NOT shut off when the door is opened which was my concern as well as a couple of other folks. There is another additional benefit to this setup over the factory installed base unit. When starting the truck with the fob you do not need to push the vehicle lock button before hittin start. All you need to do is push the start button on the fob as per instructions and it will automatically lock the doors for you before the truck starts.

Awesome thanks for the right up. I don't really care about the shock sensor either so I'll go for the 100 series. Is there a 2 way starter available factory or just these 3? Will find out pricing and availability tomorrow. But defiantly changing out the factory one. Can't deal with the crap range lol. Thanks again
