I have a question about the 200 series. Went to the dealer to have it activated this morning and they told me I needed both keys to activate it?? This doesn't sound right. I thought all they needed was to activate it in the IDS system.

I don't have new keys only the single key fob.
Would anyone that had that system installed please respond.

Hey guys, first post here. I am thinking about ordering the 200 kit. I called the Ford dealership and Anchorage and was told that they won't install the plug and play, they use Astro or something to that effect. Quoted me at $700 for the bi-directional, $1300 for the smart start. What a rip off.

Looks like I will be installing the plug and play myself. Does anyone know how the temperature control works? Does the unit itself detect temperature or does it read the outside temp from the display?

They activate the "remote start" in the computer using the IDS. In order to get your new fob to "pair" with this remote start, I believe you need the two keys.

I've had good luck with Directed Electronics Viper remote starters over the years on two different trucks. I'll be getting one of their remote starters installed soon on my F-150.

If yours came with just the fob you don't need the keys. There is another model that has the keys. A lot of dealers don't know how to setup alarms in the new 2011's yet. You have to educate them.

Does anyone have a photo of what the separate 2 way key fob looks like?

Anyone know of a good place to order the 200 kit? I talked to my dealer and they are going to install it for $100-$150. The cheapest I have found the kit for with shipping is $330.

im glad i found this message. Going to try and see if I can pick up the remote with new keys for christmas. Dont really care about the beep to let me know its on. And for the fact I can do most of it myself is a huge plus.

I picked up the basic remote start for $182 off tascaparts.com.

I installed it in about 5 minutes. Went to the dealership today to set up an appt, going tomorrow to have it activated and keys cut for $46.

So for $228 not a bad deal at all.
