i configured both trim levels on cars direct dot com. The Lariat has eld with the off-road package.

I think the perforated Lariat seats are a little nicer and help prevent swamp butt.

The only differences i can finds are color schemes (chrome, black, woodgrain), and cooled, perforated seats.

You didn't mention getting the off-road package in your initial post so I didn't consider it when I built the trucks.

They are both nice trucks. I test drove a 2011 Lariat 5.0 with the off road pkg and was very impressed. I went FX4 because I don't care for chrome or wood-trim of any color and I like more of a blacked out look. I've driven for years without cooled seats and I've been fine without them. Plus I can't see myself using them more than 3-4 months of the year in Colorado, if that. When it's hot enough to use those seats I'm usually on my Harley.

Both of those are options for the Lariat. In 2011, the differences between the Lariat and FX4 (as far as a highly optioned FX4 like leather, etc) are mainly exterior and interior appearance and Lariat has cooled seats. The Lariat does give you more options of what you can get (bench seat or console, tan or black leather, limited slip or e-locker, a few different gear ratio options, chrome or two-tone, etc).

I have a plat with cooled seats and I'll tell you its worth the money when you take long trips in the summer.

Not to be a stickler or anything, but I think the FX4 black interior trim is called "obsidian".

Now I am wondering if I should have gone the Lariat route, do those of you with leather feel the cooling seats would be a deal breaker on a new f150?

cooled seats are not as cool as i thought. the other thing is the compressor used to operated the heat/cool seats int he lariat. it is noisy. the FX4 is not.

the only thing i liked better on my 09 lariat vs my 2011 Fx4 was the fold down arm rest in the back seat. the FX4 does not have it. otherwise i like the FX4 better.

Are you stating this because there is no cooling compressor in the FX4; thus it is more quiet (less noisy) than the Lariat?
