2011 Ford f-150 3.5L cam phaser issue. Looking how to lockout/delete.2011 Ford F-150 3.5L cam phaser issue. Looking how to lockout/delete. I have seen a lot of ways to do what I'm wanting to to do on V8 engines. But I want to find a kit or an idea to lockout/delete the cam phaser. I know I will get people saying I cant because of smog issues or that it will through a check engine light. If you know how to make this work please help me.

Phaser lockouts are most commonly done on V8s because the owner is running an aftermarket ECU that can't handle the VVT or they're too lazy to get it tuned properly. The engines are usually a one-trick-pony drag car or some kind of race car where the huge loss of power below 4000rpm doesn't matter, and the large displacement makes "enough" down there even without VVT.

VVT on the EcoBoost is integral to a flat torque curve and proper turbo spool. It would definitely work, but it'd be an absolute dog. Without the VVT helping the turbos spool up right away, you don't have 5 or 6 liters of displacement to get you moving, and you remember why people hated turbos in the '80s - laaaaag.

That being said, I'm not aware of anyone making and selling phaser lockout kits for the 3.5.
