Default 2015+ front struts on 2014?

Does anyone know if the 2015+ OEM front struts (4wd) will fit on a 2014? They appear to use the same lower mounting style but I don't know if anything else is different. I also see some of the aftermarket strut assemblies like Fox 2.0 show 2014-2018.

They should fit. I don't know what spring rate they are at though and I would find that out first. If it is less than what is on the 2014's, which I believe is around 500 lbs/inch, I wouldn't put them on.

I have looked up the part numbers for replacement springs from Moog and the 2015 uses the same spring part number as the 2015 so I don't think the spring rate is different.

15 = aluminum body = less weight. 14 = steel body = you get the idea. Look up the assembly part #'s on www.fordparts.com and see if they are the same.

It looks like the OEM mounting style for the '14 and '15 is different. The '14 strut mount has a bolt through the lower eye and the '15 uses a fixed bar with downward facing studs. Also, the spring dimensions are smaller on the '15. Doesn't look to be interchangeable, even as a complete unit.

The 14 bottom strut mount is two bolts like a regular shock would be. 13 down have the large thru bolt. It changed that year.

It could be related to production date. On the Ford Parts website, when entering 2014, it showed the large bolt style. That's why all my Fords are registered on their site and I used the VIN to be sure I get the correct information for my particular application. See "Usage" and illustration in the following link.

It's easier to see the difference when you look at the lower control arm itself, this is 13 and 14 respectively, the 13 arm as noted on the bottom you can see the mounting ear for a thru bolt, the 14 clearly shows the twin bolt holes for lower strut mounting, also note the different part #'s.

It's been my experience the last year model run typically includes changes that will move forward in the next gen, in this case front struts and lower arms, I didn't look to see if anything else was different on the suspension.

Where are you finding the spring dimensions? I would be mainly concerned with the spring rate. From the research I have done, I do not see them being different.
