OK guys I'm having this problem now with my 2011 fx4 and of course I just turned 36k (36120) to be exact and I'm having the same thing, no light or rear defrost but the mirrors clear off. My biggest question is do you think the dealer will take care of it or am I SOL?

After having the rear window explode...do yourselves a favor and just don't use it. I was lucky to get it covered...but since I work in construction it was a battle, of course they assumed it was impact related. I set it not to turn on with remote start and never turn it on. Not worth it when its over a grand to fix out of pocket. A 99 cent ice scrapper is all I need.

I would take it in ASAP. Usually dealerships have a bit of leeway in that dept and can sometimes fix things under some special section that's for stuff just barely out of coverage. My local dealership did that for me with my flip down visor since they replaced the other side while it was still covered under warranty. It's worth a shot.

I had the same problem with my 2010 FX4 heated mirrors and defrost not working. Out of warranty and cost me $1200 for a whole new back glass.

I plan on calling the dealer tomorrow. I have had nothing but trouble with this truck...

Sorry for your luck Rosko, it's disheartening to say the least. I have an '11 f150 Lariat that runs like a champ most of the time. 😜 I've had a few small things that they've covered under warranty, but overall, I've been more than pleased by this truck! Maybe Chrystal from Ford Motor service will step in and help you out with the back glass situation.

Be sure to let us know how things go at the dealership, rosko082391. If you need my help, I'll be here.

I just had the same thing happen this morning. Checked that the rear window was closed, tried opening it and closing it, but no rear defrost and no light on the switch. 2011 F150 XLT with 41000 miles. Out of warrantee and out of luck I guess. I'm not paying 1000 bucks to fix something I paid extra for to begin with. This is the third issue with this truck in as many years, Water leaking from satellite antenna, transmission banging into gear, I'm getting sick of repairing my NEW vehicle.

Default Mine too. :(

I've had my share of issues as well...a few that were repaired under warranty, but also an expensive brake job with less than 30K kms and now the rear defroster issue! There is no way in "H E double hockey sticks" I will be dishing out a grand for a new window!

The rear window opens fine and I'm pretty sure the heated mirrors still work, but the defrost doesn't and the button doesn't light up. Of course I am just a few months out of warranty.

Ford should really be issuing a safety recall on this. Guess I'm just another customer that is SOL.
