2011 F-150 5.0L V8 Low Oil Pressure Warning
 
Good morning everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this:

Recently, after travelling on the freeway for about 30 minutes I took an exit and stopped at a red light. At full stop with the transmission in drive, my Low Oil Pressure warning light turned on and sounded an alarm. It blinked on and beeped, the gauge dropped to zero, then immediately shot back up and acted normally again. It continued to do this at each red light I hit. Naturally I pulled over as soon as it was safe and checked for any major leaks, etc. It was about a quart low on oil based on my reading, so I topped it off and went on to my destination, where I parked the vehicle for the remainder of the day. I returned home that evening with no issues.

Since then, I have had this happen on several occasions. Only after running the vehicle 25+ minutes and at a full stop, in drive. I did some research, and spoke to some friends. These are the steps I have taken so far to solve the problem:

Changed the oil pressure sending unit.
Changed the oil filter and put in fresh oil (The oil had been changed at the service center a month prior to it happening the first time, so I did it myself just in case).
Had it hooked up to a code reader to monitor stats - no codes are showing and oil pressure is at operational levels.

Based on what I have read, this is a common problem with the 5.0 in these trucks - and generally the solution is the oil pressure sending unit. I don't like to take my vehicles into shops to diagnose problems, as I've had bad experiences doing so, but I'm at a loss here. Figured I would ask you fine people before I proceed. The only other solution I can think of is to change the wiring for the sending unit, but I would have to find a wiring diagram.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I would love to find the solution to this problem and have it posted here for others that have struggled with the same issue. Thanks

Verify the pressure with a mechanical guage.

How about the level switch, C1149? I think you did the pressure switch, C103.

I have a similar issue with my vehicle. I'll be as brief as possible. 3 weeks ago I replaced the battery and went through reprogram as stated in the manual. Last Saturday, 5-4-19, I had my oil changed as well as the 19S07 Recall performed. Both of these were done at a local Ford dealership. No issues leaving the dealer and driving home, approx 7 miles. On Monday 5-6, while driving to work, the oil pressure dropped and the warning lamp came on. I immediately pulled over and checked the oil level. Level was good. Proceeded on to work and had to stop at a light and same thing happened again, but this time I paid attention to engine RPM. Shifted to neutral at the light and added throttle from idle to approx 750 RPM. Oil pressure came up to normal immediately. This same scenario happened again and but this time I left the trans in gear but added slight throttle. Again pressure went to normal immediately. The next stoplight I came to, I kept slight throttle applied and held RPMs at 750. No oil pressure drop or fluctuation. It appears to me to be a direct correlation between idle-500 RPM, and a higher RPM. Took back to dealer on 5-7 and they diagnosed and replaced the oil pressure switch (PN# GC3Z 9278 A). They did test drive and replacing that switch did not remedy the issue at idle RPM. They advised I may need to replace the engine. The issue has cropped up only once since then and today is 5-9, however it is a pain in the rear and worrisome. I have owned the vehicle since August of 2018 and have NEVER had this warning before 5-6. There are no outward signs of oil starvation-ie; clatter, vibration, etc., and there is no sign of oil in the radiator or at the tailpipe or engine leaks nor is there any loss of power or throttle response. There is also no fluctuation or flutter in the oil pressure gauge needle. This only occurs when at idle (low RPM) and in gear.
My questions are: Would the reprogramming of the PCM from the recall have any direct effect on my issue? Or am I destined for a complete engine failure soon, even though it does not give any indication it is about to shell?

Help me out 5.0 gurus.
As a non expert, it seems to me that if I were able to have the idle adjusted to 600 RPM or so, I would be golden!! Wishful thinking I guess.

Any update on your problem? I'm having the same problem with my 2011 f150 5.0 fx2

2011 F-150 Harley Davidson 6.2L V8

I'm currently on a road trip and a similar issue has just appeared. Low Oil pressure light and sound came on right after putting gas in the tank, Oil needle on dash dipped to Low. Immediately shut off the engine, checked Oil level it seems good, then proceeded on my trip. I last had the oil changed just before this trip, approx 1500 Miles ago. Low Oil pressure light has only came on the one time. That was 3 days ago. Now tonight the RPM seems to be fluctuating up and down while idling. Any ideas or suggestions from the group? Should I get an oil change incase its an issue with the filter?
