I was looking around for posts about the 5.0 and that noise. Exactly the noise I had, I had 300 miles left on my warranty. I took the truck in to the dealership and they found aluminum in the oil and filter, both Motorcraft. Now I am waiting for Ford to ship a new long block. 2-3 weeks was the optimistic timeline from the service rep.

I feel lucky that I didn't pooh-pooh the noise as normal.
