Wink 2011 Electric Steering ?

My steering has always been lets say different than earlier F150 I have had. (Electric Steering)
It seems to be getting you might say sluggish / not really returning to center in a funny way.
Hard to describe.
Question >> is there any adjusting the steering on a 2011 F 150 ?.

Thanks for any information and yes I know how much it cost to replace - GULP

I have a 2013 and about 3 months ago my steering started to develop a catch as you drove. It just isn't smooth as you turn through the whole arc.

Anyway, I squirted some oil into the U joints on the steering shaft and it cured it, but only for a few weeks. Oiled it again and it is again fine. I will get parts soon but at least it isn't the steering sector.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but there are thousands of us, maybe tens of thousands by now, who have had to replace that electric steering rack.

It’ll get worse and worse for you, until the Service Advancetrac light doesn’t go out anymore, and then you better have your VISA card ready, because it’s a $1800 repair.

I'd follow Dunrollin's advice and spray the u-joints on the steering shaft between the column and rack. Use a silicon spray lube. Each end of #2 are little u-joints.

Rnlcomp, I have a '13 with 80k on it! I have ZERO issues with the steering. Do you recommend lubing those U joints as a preventative measure. I know it won't prevent the EPAS from failing but would like to stop any other issues before they occur. Thanks.

Won't hurt anything if you do. They come pre-lubed from the factory.

I have a 2012 with a snow plow in Ohio so I'm out in salty slush/snow/ice.

I had the same issue over the last couple years and kept lubing the universal joints on the lower shaft (part #2) until it no longer helped the issue. One joint ended up completely galled.

I ordered the part online (google) to save money and installed it in less than an hour with prep and clean up included. Steering is completely restored.

Here's the kicker ... note with the part said it was a redesign and I noticed the universal joints are slightly rotated differently from each other than on the original. I assume to create an easier rotation of the shaft due to less stress on the mechanics of the joints working with each other.
