Default 2011 EcoBoost F150 - Ford Extended Warranty buy or not to buy?

Hello All,

My 2011 EcoBoost F150 is nearing the end of Factory Warranty as 35k miles. Was wondering if anyone has purchased extended Ford Warranty. Ford wants between $2000 and $2500 to cover another 4 years or 75,000 miles with either $100 or $200 deductibles. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with the Extended Warranty?

Thanks in advance
Alan

Folks have good and bad experiences with their extended warranty. That's mostly due to how good or bad their local dealership is regarding warranty work in general. Maybe someone can point you in the right direction on this, but there are dealers who offer Ford's extended warranty, online, for less than your local dealer. And read carefully to see what's NOT covered. 2500 can go a long way in repairs. But it's all about what comfort level do you have regarding potential 'covered' repairs.

My extended warranty on my 11 was a waste of money, just as it was on my 07. Neither had any issues that would have been covered. I say flip a coin and go with that. Or best 2 out of 3, if the first flip didn't work for you.
Try using the search function, you'll likely find tons of useful info.

With several vehicles to use I don't put on a lot of miles on my 2012 Lariat Eco. I can get a Ford PremiumCare ESP - 500+ Key Components covered for $775. Now that's for 6 years and 48,000 miles which more then covers my requirements. BTW that includes first day rental coverage with 100 dollar deductible which isn't an issue for me. Seems like a no brainer unless I'm missing something? These Eco engines with the thinning oil and turbo's have me a bit concerned. I usually keep my vehicles 5 or 6 years so it seems like the extended warranty is a good deal. My dealership is really good and has always worked with me on warranty work.

Power train is covered 5/60 from factory. So I can understand why it's so cheap

It is all personal choice.

I opted for the extended warranty just this month on my 11. I never had any issues with my 03 Ranger it never went to dealer and still running strong (being sold today with 110k). I keep vehicles at least 8 years and with the gas in oil issue some are having it seems worth it to me even though I will probably never use it. $1400 for 7 year 100k online. Would be cheaper if I bought sooner.

This^^^, Ziegler, Flood, and other online Ford ESP dealers sell at much cheaper cost for the same genuine plan you can get at your dealer. I bought one from Flood Ford for my '13 5.0, and saved $600 over my dealers quoted price. It's not the running parts that concern me so much, but all these new fangled electronics is a different story.

As stated it is a matter on personal opinion as too the worth of an ESP. Me, it's an ease of mind situation.

I bought an extended warranty about a month ago from flood ford. It was a 7 year 75000 premium car with $50 deductible for $1090. I thought it was cheap considering the electronics on my 2013 lariat.
