Update. Took a drive in the mountains the other day and it started cutting out. It really feels like a tranmission issue to me. My exhaust is a bit louder than stock and i didnt hear anything weird with engine. When truck was under a load, going up a hill it could easily maintain speed, 70MPH in 6th gear. Now is where the fun starts, if you set the cruise control truck will try to maintain speed in 6th gear and if it cant it will down shift to 5th and so on, but while in cruise control and going up a hill it feels like you hit the gas then let off, hit gas then let off. I watched my gauges on the SCT Livewire and the boost goes from vacuum to 8 or so psi then back to vacuum and back to 8 psi also while the boost dropped the fuel line pressure dropped, when the boost when up the fuel line pressure went up. the fuel line pressure increasing when the boost increases makes perfect sense. But the fact that the truck in "cruise control mode" does this weird slip or studder thing is not normal. So i played with it a bit. Left cruise on while going up a hill truck shutters (keeps speed for 3-5 seconds then feels like trans slips, thats when boost drops, then feels like trans grabs again and boost goes up 3-5 seconds and then this repeats for as long as the hill is) going down a hill or driving on flat land it has no problems at all. Going up hill is where it has problems. No trailer, nothing in the bed at all. Just truck with 3 people in it. Anyways so i was trying to eliminate things. While it was in cruise going uphill having issues I left trans in auto and took 6th gear away, it would downshift into 5th and still shutter, so i took 5th gear away, same thing. Then i put my foot on the gas and kept a steady speed 50-80MPH (would have same issue at any speed between) and turned off cruise control, no more shutter. This was with a tune from 5 star. I dont know if the tune has anything to do with it. I havent had a chance to put it back to stock and drive the same route and see what happens yet. Any input?

Still sounds like a misfire issue. Could be a bad coil or boot or maybe a plug got cracked during install??

It has not thrown a code yet. You may be correct. I just cant track the issue down and its irritating. And i would thing if it was a miss then it would do it with cruise on or off.

I replaced all the plugs AND boots per the dealer's recommendation. They said they've seen where plugs alone didn't completely solve the problem...but replacing both was the ticket. Just a thought.

Did you have any check engine light? codes? or just a shutter? My truck is still under warrenty but the dealer closest to my house is a joke so i might have to take it elswhere.

Mine kicked out a code for a number three cylinder misfire and displayed the check engine light solid. It had the dreaded loss of power that simply appeared out of nowhere at 65 mph where it would shudder/hammer really badly.

It happened on a road trip, so we limped it to the nearest dealer. They pulled the plugs and three of them had visible carbon tracking on the insulator.

It's been a couple thousand miles since, and so far so good.

Update. Pulled a 6000lb trailer from Denver to Moab and back last week. When trip first started the truck shuttered with cruise on. So i just left cruise on to see what would happen. In less then 5 mins of shuttering it slowly went away. Never did it again and i was using cruise to maintain 75MPH going up and down 5% grades.

2011 F150 4x4 Ecoboost 50,000 miles. Spark plugs replaced at 45,000 miles. Getting on the highway the other day, tried to accelerate and truck fell flat on its face. No check engine light. Let off and eased into throttle and it took off. Two days later same thing same situation, this time with a 5000 trailer and again no check engine light. Been doing some research and found a Canadian forum that posted about similar issues. Guys having transmissions replaced, cats melted down, condensation in intercooler, and the list goes on forever. Looking for anyone with a truck that has done this.

Now this was with a tune from 5 star. Not sure if tune had anything to do with it yet. Put stock tune back on, going to see if i have the same problem again. Also what gap are you guys using for spark plugs stock? And what gap tuned?

I live at 5200ish ft in colorado. Pretty dry up here, so i don't know if the intercooler condensation is an issue i may be having.
Drill a 1/16th hole in the lower left corner of your intercooler before you damage a piston, bend a rod, or pop your block. Drilling the hole fixes your problem. Also, gap on your spark plugs should be 0.030-0.033. Install the new Ford plugs and don't mess around with aftermarket plugs or the heat range.

That all was done 8000 miles ago. Had shuttering problem before and after problem. But havent had it in the last 500 miles.
