The ebay parts were $350 and the dealer parts were $180 so far.

The issue I'm running into now is the compass wiring is different for 11. The compass module is integral to the electrochromatic mirror and sends a signal to the BCM on a single wire LIN circuit. On a 2010 and older, it is a two wire hookup to the instrument cluster. Just looking at what the ebay guy has, its the older mirror. Pickupman, did you get a correct 2011 mirror or did you get the older one? If you got a correct one, what did you pay for it? My dealer quoted me almost $1100 just for the mirror.

I used mirror part # BU5A-17E678-CD which I believe to be correct for a 2011. I too was quoted about $1,100 by my dealer. Found my mirror on eBay from LKQ auto salvage for $150.

Default Factory nav and oem camera

Okay need some help. I am ordering all the camera/harness pieces required to install the Ford OEM camera and have it connected directly to my navigation via the main factory harness. Ben from Tasca said once it is all connected; all I have to do is have the nav unit reflashed. Talked to the dealer and they said just unhook the battery for a bit, reconnect it, and there you go reflashed... Does this sound right or has anyone tried this yet?

You'll have to remove the headliner for sure and not sure what else until I get into it.
Smunczen, I was wondering if you finished your install and if you can elaborate more on what you all needed BESIDES what you got from the EBay seller.

Also did you get all the features to work correctly?

I tried calling Tasca but they didn't seem to want to help me find what I need. What did you tell so they would help you find all the harnesses?

First post for me but been lurking on the forums for a while. Big thanks to Pickupman2007 for all the great information. I am in the proccess of purchasing a 2012 f150 xlt and will be adding the factory back up camera to the truck. I am not concerned with the mirror as I will be sending the signal to an aftermarket unit.

A few questions and if Pickupman2007 or any others could go over what I think to be correct would be great.

Pickupman2007 your list of parts in this thread would be everything I am getting short of any main harnesses/roof harnesses. The camera and camera wire assembly (c4000 connecter I belive) along with all the other parts are for a 2011 model camera setup correct?

When looking under the truck once I get started I am looking for connector 405 and checking to see if it has the correct wht/grn and brn/vlt wires. What I am wondering on this is if I am able to get ground and 12v triggered out of the connector by plugging the camera harness (c4000) into this harness? I can always meter this connector and go from there or simply use a body ground and the orange wire for 12v triggered on the trailer plug.

Now if I got this correct on the c4000 camera connector the pin out should go as follows (please correct me if I am wrong)

Pins:
1 - 12v (camera power)
2 - Video +
3 - Video -
4 - Shield
5 - Ground (camera ground)
6 - On your diagram vdn03 have no idea what this is for or if I would need it for my camera install to an aftermarket head unit.

If I can not sinpe power/ground out of a factor connecter from above for what ever reason (2012 being different, power not there etc) I figure its as simple as cut the plug of and solder in new wires and run an rca up front for a done deal.

Please let me know if I am right/wrong on this and thanks again!

You have to get it flashed at the dealer. Disconnecting the battery will not make it work. Cost me $95.00 to get mine flashed and it works good.

Sounds like your on the right track. Yes my list is for a 2011 setup the only harness listed is for camera through the tailgate. I ran my own wires from there to the mirror. I cut the Ford plug off that harness at the bottom of the tailgate and replaced it with a weather pack plug. I added a ground loop the the Ford ground point on top of the left frame rail and spliced the camera power to the reverse light wire on the trailer harness. VDN03 on the diagram is the wire that goes from the camera to the BCM (body control module). This wire is not needed unless you go all OEM wiring and want to try to have the dealer reprogram the module to support zoom and guidelines on/off. I only know of one person who tried that but so far the dealer has not been able to get the module reprogrammed, but his camera still works.

Hope that helps. More questions welcome if needed.
