How many different harnesses do I need and is there anyway to tell if they are already installed.

I do not haved factory navigation installed, there is a a trailer brake assembly only.

I was going to have the dealer install the rear parking sensors - does this help or not?

Any assistance on where to get this information and where to get the parts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
It's unlikely that the original mirror has the display if your truck didn't come with the camera. The way to check is on the back of the mirror, if it says "compass" then it doesn't have the display in it. However, if it says "RVD/Compass" then it does.

Four total harness: Headliner, main body, taillight/park assist, and tailgate (camera). Some people have reported having the correct main body or headliner harness. I don't believe anyone has had the taillight/park assist harness. The tailgate harness is just for the camera so you won't have it.

As far as having the rear sensors installed, maybe. I believe there are 3 different harness. My 2011 came with the sensors but not the camera and I didn't have the camera wires in my truck anywhere.

Here are the parts I used on mine (I only bought the tailgate harness as I ran my own wires from it to the mirror):

Mirror BU5A17E678 CD
Camera (Tailgate) harness AL3Z-14A411C
Bezel (Camera) AL3Z19H511A
Rear Camera AL3Z19G490A
Name Plate (Ford Logo) 9L3Z-1542528-A
Screw & Washer Asy. N805949-S439
Insert (For above screw) W714711-S439

I got my parts from: www.tascaparts.com expect I got the mirror on eBay from a salvage yard.

Many here have gotten most if not all there parts on eBay. I beleive from "nailsandsales "

Of course you could get them from your local Ford dealer, but that would be VERY expensive.

As for info this forum is loaded with it, but It's often buried and confusing. I'm always willing to share what I know, just ask here or send a PM to me.

Ok I have been trying to sort through all the post about the back up camera set up and wow. I have a 2011 150 with out the camera or lcd mirror. I picked up the camera and mirror on ebay and got the back wire harness from Tasco, but now it seems I will need the main and headliner harnesses. Does anyone have the part numbers for these? Also does anyone know if I do buy these last 2 harnesses, will that be it? Hate to be a pain but this project has really gotten me confused and Im no great electrician. Any help would be great.

I just added 4 wires and skipped all the replacing harness stuff.

Did you solve your picture problem? It may be that the camera feed requires a shielded cable. You could be picking up interference with the signal between the camera and the head unit. It would be like scrambling the picture. . .

It's the camera. I purchased a 25ft Pearson video cable. To check video. Still did it. Changed the power cable to 14/2 shielded. No difference. I went back to the shop where I purchased the camera and swap it. The replacement camera also bad. The camera was the mini one. I had one that I ordered was to big for the tailgate handle. I plug that in and left it hanging while I drove around no problem. So I have to order a good one.

Im doing a backup camera installation on a 2004 F150. I am using parts from a 2011 F-150 (mirror #BU5Z17700L) along with the cab hiring harness to the mirror. I am using a tailgate camera setup awell.

I have all the wiring diagrams and have tested my wires to be receiving power, but the camera in the mirror is not turning on.

In the mirror, I have #1 tapped into a start/run power source per brandmotion site (white/blue). I have #4 tapped on the ground located there too. #9 is tapped into the reverse power (black/pink). then the #8/#16 into the camera at the back. even if the camera leads are wrong, i still should get a blue screen in the mirror, but when i hit it in reverse, nothing happens.

I'm wondering what the problem could be? does the 2011 mirrors need the #2 and #11/#15 electromirror connected to work? I'll I have connected to the mirror are #1,#4,#9,#8,#16. reading through all these great posts, it seems like this should be working.....thanks all.
