2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
I'm not making excuses for Ford but it may not be as simple as just fixing the problem.
First they have to find out EXACTLY what the issue is. Then find the parts that are causing the issue.
Next they have to discuss with that part/s manufacturer to see who is going to cover the warranty costs. ( this could be a major time consumer)
They also will have to test the replacement part/s to make sure it won't happen again.
All this takes time.
I don't imagine in ANY way that this is a quick fix even if, in the end, it's only a $5 part that takes 5 min to replace.
We just need to have a little patience.
Ford is on top right now, and if they let this slide it would really lower their position so I don't think they'll let that happen.

Question for you guys. I don't have this shudder. I have a tiny one at 5mph when towing. 157" wheelbase. (supposidly there is a TSB for that fix with a changing the angle of the drive shaft, doesn't bother me that much) I have 3.31 gears. I see a lot of FX4's which all have 3.73. Are most or all of you guys experiencing this shudder problem at 55-60mph with 3.73?
Just wondering if theirs a common thread in this problem.
I saw this way back
Model Year affected: 2011: 72 = 90% 2012: 8 = 10%
Engine: EcoBoost: 72 = 90% 5.0L: 8 = 10%
Wheelbase: 145'': 53 = 66% 157'': 27 = 33%
4x4/4x2: 4x4: 73 = 91% 4x2: 7 = 7%
Trim: I did not break down the individual numbers, however these are the levels affected: XLT, XTR, Lariat, FX series, Platinum. It appears the XLT had the highest number followed by the FX series and then the Lariat.
Assembly Plant: Dearborn: 64 = 88% Kansas City: 10 = 13% Unk. = 6
Only thing missing is Axle ratio

All of these things are causing damage and shortened life of injectors, converters, pistons, rods, shafts, axials, clutches, ect. If and when ford comes out with a fix for these, are they also going to repalce all the parts down the line that now have a shortened life becasuse of the root issues they fixed under warranty? NO. If these other parts make it to 65K miles beofre they fail who is going to left holding the bag? It will be the guy that already spent $50K on a truck and waited patiently. If you can offord it or not the last thing anyone wants to be doing is spending $1000's on repairs that were caused by but no longer stood behind manufactures defects. At best, you can buy extended warranty, but dont think those guys arent going to know about this and be charging ten grand for the extended warranty. Hope this makes sence, and again sorry if the tone seems less than favorible.
Although, I don't know what a little shudder is going to do to a truck capable of yanking 11300lbs around. Till they find out what it is, then we'll have to speculate I guess.
Of course from all the posts regarding this issue and the fact that Ford has thrown some possible fixes out there such as solenoids in the tranny, turbo solenoids etc, it's not like they are ignoring the problem, they just don't know the root cause.
So I suppose we have three options, trade it in, lemon law it OR be patient wait for a fix.
I've told my wife that if there isn't a fix before the warranty is up, it will be traded.
True enough.

Tomorrow is a good day.
I will be meeting with the service managers and the field engineer. We will be driving around and discussing the truck.
The weather here has been amazing the last few days. 80's and humidity in the 50-60% range, this is supposed the continue tomorrow, we'll see if it has an effect on things.
Additionally, I will be printing, consolidating and making a final list of the trucks in the database thread to personally hand to the engineer.
If you havent added your truck in there please do so by tonight.

I just looked up Illinois' lemon law and we only get 12 months/12k miles, whichever occurs first. It has to have been to the dealership 4 times for the same issue or have been at the dealership for 30 business days out of commission. I can see this being kind of tough to pursue here in Illinois.
