EcoBoost 3.5 GTDI also in Taurus SHO and Ford Flex. Slightly different PCM tuning, same engine.

I wonder if they have a shudder. Someone should check their forums.

I can verify that the flex does not have the "shudder." I own a 2010 flex awd eco and my 2011 fx4 f150 eco. Surprisingly they drive (enigine/tranny shifting wise) like completely different animals. My truck has the "shudder." I would call it a hesitation or miss though. With many years of engine building and tuning behind me, this feels a lot like a fueling issue... Based on what my instant mpg bar is doing during the hesitation I would say it is going pig rich under low rpm/high load situations. I think there may also be other issues with other peoples"shudder." My truck will be going in soon for many issues, at the 1900+ mile mark.

Went in today to have the PCM TSB work done. No difference at all, it still bucks in 6th gear when lugging it up a hill at 55 - 60 MPH. I don't know what problem Ford was trying to fix with this TSB, but it does not fix the issue with the torque converter bucking when its locked in overdrive.

Gone on mine for now. If it was simply a clear of the adaptive learn as some have said, then why are some coming out of the shop immediately with it still?

I'm sure there was more to it than what some are thinking. If it was a simply clearing the adaptive learn, why would they need to download a new version to use? Also, there has been a 'hold' on new truck shipments with the trucks being "re-released" last week after being released and called back to the factory prior to that. That sure sounds like they made the TSB changes to those trucks before they hit the dealers lots, and there would be nothing to clear in the adaptive learning at that point. I'm still betting there are several issues being discussed here with similar symptoms. I'm sure there will be more steps to follow to clear up the rest of the issues.

If I am traveling in 6th with TC locked up and at 55-60 MPH, under certain conditions with the hill I am going up and if I accelerate just right, the TC will unlock, but the transmission will stay in 6th and the misfire, hesitation, shudder, or whatever you want to say it is clears up and the engine runs smooth. In my case it seems to be a TC issue. I haven't taken it to the dealer for this. I guess I will wait until I know Ford has it figured out for sure.

While I can appreciate your situation, at the very least give Ford Customer Care a call and document your issues.

The more people we have complain and have this issue serviced the faster it will get resolved. Think about it people.

Yeah, it sucks to go to the dealer. I have been without my truck for 15 days, it sucks. But, the dealer called me the other day about this new transmission mount Ford has and is going to install it and give that a shot. That has never been discussed on here as of yet, and never would have it someone (me) hadn't taken their truck in.

Im still trying to gather as much data as possible in the sticky to forward on to Ford, but am pretty disappointed in the participation. Either the issue isnt as big as I/some thought, or people just arent putting their trucks in there.

In case someone has not seen it, here is a link:

Please, if you know someone that has it, have them sign up for the forums and post their info.

I would take it in. At the very least you will have record that it has been an ongoing issue. Might save you some hassle down the road if the fix comes out at the end of warranty. Just my .02
