Hmmmmm, interesting. Can a few others try this and see if we can get a pattern?

For those unfamiliar, if you tap the brake very gently your converter will unlock. Once it does, the rpm's should jump about 150-200, almost not noticeable. If that clears up the shudder temporarily then we might be honing in on the root cause.

I don't tap the brake I just give it enough throttle to make it unlock. Where I live I have ten miles of the most eco boost unfriendly hills between my house and town. I have tried different things to clear it up and nothing but downshifting or unlocking the converter makes it stop. The shuddering is almost as annoying as the squeak in the cab, the squeaking brakes, and the overrated gas mileage. At least it doesn't cost as much money to change the oil as it did with the Duramax, and I haven't had to replace a fuel filter yet either. The ecoboost also doesn't downshift at the top of every hill I go over like the 5.3 chevy as well as the 6.0 chevy that the Duramax replaced but maybe if it did I wouldn't have the shudder.

Next time try unlocking the converter by just tapping the brake but keep steady throttle. Increasing throttle to unlock the converter might be effecting other variables such as throttle position.

I agree 100%...! I work hard for my money and don't need this extra stress in my life. My buddy recently bought a 2012 Dodge Ram with the 5.7 Hemi. That thing is as smooth as silk! The only issue he has had was a rattle in the dash. Never thought I would consider a Dodge but I just may get rid of my ECO!

Default Running out of options

My last call to my case worker about a month ago went very poorly. I was done with, "Ford is aware of the issue and hope to have a fix soon." I painted her a picture to shine some perspective on this poor girl on the last page of How to Make the Customer Ford is Screwing Happy. This is how it went: "So you spend $45K of your hard-earned money on a vehicle and it wobbles down the street. It wobbles and wobbles and it really annoys you. You call the manufacturer and they tell you they hope to have a fix soon but don’t worry, the wobble isn't damaging your 45k vehicle." "Do you mean to tell me, you would be happy driving your wobbly car every day, making monthly payments on it?" "If you don't have a better answer for me, the next number I dial will be for legal representation."
I haven't heard back from her since.
My truck still broken.
Just made another payment on it today….

Your case might be done in their eyes. From my experience working for companies on the service side, when someone says they are talking to a lawyer the case is pretty much done. We would not allow any further contact with the customer and forward the case to our attorney. At that point it is dead unless the customer's attorney would contact our attorney. From a company's perspective, in this "sue happy" society, they have little choice. I would only use that threat if I intend to follow through with it.

I've got the shutter as well so I feel for you.
However, what exactly do you expect them to tell you? "we are aware of the problem but don't have a fix for it yet but we'll go ahead and fix yours to keep you happy"???

I'd like mine fixed too but I know they can't until they figure it out. Everytime I go for service I mention it to the SM and he documents it. If it still isn't fixed before warranty is out, I will be requesting extra warranty for the time I keep my truck. Just in case.

Good luck with legal.

First, let me admit that I did not take the time to read the preceding 25 pages of this thread... But, I did have a very concerning shudder not long ago that I had fixed. It took 3 dealers to fix it... But I digress...
I had a nasty shudder that would occur between 45-60mph depending on my acceleration and load on the vehicle (towing, hill, etc.) I kicked and screamed that my torque converter was shot. Finally found a dealer that kept the truck for 4 days, and agreed to swap it out. No problems since and that was 10k miles ago. Good luck!

Is your truck a 2011?
