unfortunately I feel as if dealerships will be dealerships no matter what manufacturer. Service sept is where the majority of the money is made and situations like yours are a prime example of that. Good luck.

You have an early EB. Do some quick research on this site, and drill the hole in your intercooler as suggested. It's a simple fix for those early engines.

Good luck with any other vehicle then. They all have problems, and stealerships are all the same. I drilled the hole 180k miles ago, I've got 240k on my 2012 F-150 ecoboost and still going strong. I'd get another

I also fortunately/unfortunately don't live to far from where I work, so I don't really get a chance to crank it up very often. The recommendation was that periodically I should drive it like I stole it. It's been about 15K miles and all continues to be well.
The shield is a joke, everyone with an early engine had that TSB done, and it doesn't do anything. They replaced the intercoolers next, and threw the shields away. The best thing you can do is drill the hole and be done with it. I have 240k on my 2012 Eco and have no problems. It runs like a scalded dog (I am running a tune). Plugs will last you about 40k miles tops before starting to carbon track. Get you some new ones, gap them at 0.030-0.032 and have at it for another 40k. It's a fun truck for work or play.

Terrific thread!
Was looking to replace my '93 (see signature) with a EB 2010-2014. Doesn't look like a worthwhile idea. Thought the "drill a hole in the Intercooler" fix for the EcoBoosts was a joke until I went to look. Wow! And no fix yet for the shudder…..
I had a '10 5.0L (31,183mi at trade) and a '11 with a 3.7 V6 (19,xxxmi; Work issued). I didn't have the shudder in either but know what to look for now.
Might look for a '10 5.0L again....

Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Spring was starting to show up so the roads were nice and dry, and I was in a hurry to get home after I dropped the kids off with the ex, so I hammered on the gas (starting off on the highway) and in 2nd gear I had a shudder. First time this has happened and I've actually driven the truck harder than this time. CEL started blinking but went away shortly after. Drove normally the rest of the way home and the CEL came back on just before I got home. Cleared the code (cylinder 1 misfire) and nothing has been wrong since.

So, I have 73,000 miles on my 2011 Ecoboost now, and recently when I floored it, it hesitated and afterwards the truck shuddered. No engine light came on. I was like, "crap," but waited to see if it did it again. Fast forward a couple weeks later when I'm having to speed up, so again, I hit the pedal pretty hard. This time it does the same hesitation and jerkiness, but then the check engine light comes on. I go to auto zone and have them run a diagnostic. The computer shows a misfire on cylinder 1, 4, and 6. I replaced all the spark plugs, (cheap at $31) and no fix. Checked the coil packs and all looked fine. I then ran the engine and pulled the plug for each coil pack one by one. Each time I pulled the plug, the engine ran rough, so I knew none of the coil packs were bad. The auto zone printout stated to replace the plate deflector at the intercooler for a possible fix. Does this sound like the whole weep hole drill crap? I don't want to spend a bunch of money on this crap right now.

I drilled my weep hole last night and oil immediately came out. I’m hoping this with the new spark plugs will fix my issue.
