HELP!! I have a 2012 FX4 with the Ecoboost. I have seen messages for gapping spark plugs from.037 to .028. Can someone tell me which direction to go with this. Somewhere in the middle or??? Has anybody tried the Brisk spark plugs that do not have to be gapped? I did and what a disaster. It is running awful!!!!!

Your plugs and boots will go until it rains again and your cruisin. Then you'll be back to wondering why you couldn't clean up a little "mess" from your driveway. LOL
So about this hole, would you get water/oil residue on the ground everyday you start/park the truck on the driveway or garage? I'm not worried about losing pressure as someone mentioned before. So for you guys who did drill the hole, can you share some experience on this?

so i decided to change the plugs on my 2011 ecoboost 150. truck has ran great since day one. i'm getting low 20's mpg on the highway , unloaded, doing the speed limit. around 17 mpg overall. it never had the smoothest idle, but i figured that was normal from day one. has 52k miles from hauling, towing, vacations..., not my daily driver. i figured with the new plug update and all the issues everyone here is having, why wait for 100k miles. since i'm checking them, i might as well change them. i'm glad i did. the original plugs were in very tight as i was hoping not to break any. got them out. all pugs looked great with the good tannish brown color and all gapped around .040". i used di-electric grease and antisieze with the new 534's, gapped at 30-32. the idle seems better and the truck seems to like them. we're going camping memorial day weekend towing our 10k lb travel trailer. i'll report back after. thanks to all for all the info here and thanks to all our vets for next weekend. Salute!

It makes no mess on the ground. All the bad stuff is purged out while driving. This and fresh .030 spark plugs every 30k miles will do wonders for drivability/reliability.

You need motorcraft sp534 gapped to .030. No other gap. Change them every 30k miles. Do yourself a favor and drill the 1/16" weep hole too.

I just purchased a 2011 ecoboost lariat and am experiencing the shudder/loss of power when hitting passing gear. I am not opposed to drilling the cac but have some questions first. Has anyone experienced or heard of any problems that this may have caused? How would driving through high water affect this? It seems that over the past few years every time it rains it floods around here and I don't want to cause any other problems by having an open hole in the bottom of the cac. And with that in mind has anyone tried installing a valve of some sort instead of just a hole?

You need new motorcraft sp534 spark plugs gapped to .030, and drill the intercooler asap.

This causes NO problems in the nearly 7yrs the ecoboost community has done this.
The system is under positive pressure, nothing ingested.
DO NOT plug the weep hole. You never know when the intercooler will build condensate, so you HAVE TO leave it open.

So i drilled my weep hole earlier this week, saw some oily water liquid come out. I have started to notice what seems to be a little bit of a misfire (no codes). My truck is still under the dealer's 30 day/3000m warranty, and i even purchased the extended warranty through ford for another 3 years. I was curious would the spark plugs be considered a "ware and tare" item, or be covered by the warranty? Just wondering since it will be in on the 27th to get the moonroof fixed anyways.

Default 2011 F150 sputtering and grabs

I have a 2011 F150 with 75000 miles. Lately, while in drive it grabs like I shifted it into reverse and you can push the gas pedal and nothing happens. I shift into neutral and let sit for a second then shift back into drive and seems to run fine. It just happened to me again on the way home from getting the shifter replaced. This time it grabbed hard and had no gas pedal. The wrench icon came up on the dash. I also took my foot off the pedal and it was still accelerating. Anyone had similar issues?

You probably have a throttle body/accelerator problem.
