Default is this the norm? 2013 3.5L

background: Getting P0430 codes coupled with some rough engine attitude. Read as much as I could here and thought that i would be an educated consumer and bring up the TSB article related to changing the Cat and also modifying the intercooler when i get to the service department.

get a call from the dealer - tells me they need to replace all the coils/cables/plugs - (under warranty) - but not the Cat. ( i have to look at the intercooler to see if mine has the restrictions).. and oh - do i want to add a throttle body cleaning (truck has 24K on it).

are they doing the right thing, or will i be back in for a converter?

thanks
Tom

When I stomp on the gas hard it shudders. I tried it over and over again and it shuddered hard and now the engine light is on. Otherwise it drives great. Do I need new plugs? Any thoughts on the issue?

2011 Eco super crew. 4x4 105,000 km

When's the last time you changed plugs? That would be my first question also was the TSB done on your truck to remove the cover's on the CAC? Those are the two main issues when this happens.

Thank you very much. I bought the truck a year ago with 83k km and I would guess the plugs are original. Looks like that would be a good place to start.

I don't know what a CaC is or the bulletin, but I will google it.

Thanks again.

Thought this would be the forum to indicate problems with the 2011 missing and going into limp mode at highway speeds. I have a 3.5 crew that I just got in July. Do not know if TSB has been done and have not looked to see what month to post on additional threads. Had the truck bucking in December when passing on the highway. Was not sure of plugs, so replaced them all in December. Seemed to run a little better and no issues. Last weekend (March) same issue. I live in Manitoba, so there is little to no moisture in the air, the engine is warm as I have been running on the highway, go to pass, and the truck engine light starts blinking, the truck loses power (when passing on the highway), and there is a huge immediate shudder with the whole truck. I back off, the engine light goes out, and idles back to normal. Now, with extra room, I give it gas again, does the same thing, I keep the pedal down, and engine light stays on. I have it scheduled to go in at the end of the week to check the codes and see what's wrong. As I am trying to be knowledgeable about the truck, and there seems to be many reports of this dangerous situation, so I thought I should add to the info.

Boy oh boy. New 2014 Screw 5.0, purchased 3 weeks ago, a little over 1,000 miles, and yes, it does have the shudder. Very, very disappointed. This is my third F series, and it may be my last. This should NOT happen.

Default Don't buy this truck

They can't fix this problem and they won't give your money back. Do not buy this truck. Be warned

Ditto to that. Sell your ticking time bombs while you can. You shouldn't have to change spark plugs every 40k miles. So glad I sold my 2011.
