Always ran like a top, thought at times on start up it sounded like it was misfiring. But it never bogged out or died...probably should've kept it...but I didn't. I traded for a 2013, same exact truck as the '11, but got the 3.55's ('11 had 3.73's - which makes me wonder if it's a gear related thing due to lugging at lower speeds, yet the trans on the '13 shifts sooo much better than the '11, doesn't go into 3rd or lockup and get "luggy" near as soon...but I digress...). So, what's happening with ours is it just dies. No warning, no shuddering, no misfires. Just pfft. Dead. It just idles, and the throttle is like someone disconnected the cable (if it had a cable). Turn it off and restart and all's good again - it's as though Microsoft was in charge of the computer (isn't Sync from MS? Hmmm...) - it just dies, and you reboot, and good to go. Ford ME? Maybe? (like Windows "Massive Error", only on my truck) Not sure I want to get a TSB done if it changes shift points, that's the one thing I like about this one over the '11. Would hate to lose that, but then again it sucks having your truck just die in the middle of the road for no apparent reason To note: it was raining yesterday, and the truck had been out for 5 or so hours idling around town as my kid was doing a fund raiser/bottle drive. When he left town to bring the bottles away, he was accelerating normal and it just went away. No warning, no nothing. Just went into idle mode and coasted. Good thing we don't live in a highly populated city, could be dangerous - or if we lived in the mtns. I'd like to tow the camper to the mtns again...but I think I'd be a little concerned this time around. Last time it happened to my wife, and it was dry outside (not raining), but there were puddles from the melting snow. She went through one fairly deep one and it bogged out on her (water in the intake?) and then a few days later did the total cutout. Maybe I should get a '14 with the last of the 6.2's...tried the 5.0 with my trailer, and found it seriously lacking compared to the E/B. Would hate to have to downgrade the power to a V8...(can you supercharge the 5.0 and still tow with it? Wouldn't over stress it? Might be an option.)
I went from an Eco to 5.0 and got a good tune. Tows quite nicely for me

My 2011 SCREW never had this issue until Sunday, towing a 33 ft camper on 258 thru Wilson NC. I was able to coast to the side of the road (in traffic), and turn off the ignition. After letting it sit for a few minutes , I started it back up, and it ran normal back home to Darlington SC. Now at the Ford dealer and they want $140 to repair it with the parts from the TSB (intercooler deflector). Just got off phone with Ford Customer Service, must wait up to 4 days for answer. I have an extended warranty (covering a new driveshaft at this time) with a $100 deductible, and they say this is not covered by that either. I have been a staunch supporter of the EcoBoost, its towing ability and fuel mileage, but if Ford is going to shaft all of us like this, going to a Powerstroke ( cant bring myself to buy a GM or Mopar, but may have to) Lesson here, just because it breaks, don't expect Ford to pay for a known drivability and safety problem!!!

Reach out to me via PM, NelloSR; I'll look into this and see how I can help. In your message, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

You'd think if it was a TSB it wouldn't matter whether your truck was in or out of warranty. I had mine in the shop, service manager couldn't tell me if they did anything at all to it. I know the guidelines in the mirror were set to "off", so someone must've done something. Service mgr also told me the TSB said to put the shield on the bottom, then the top...then up your ***** (ok, he didn't say that part ) and none of it works. So, "drive it, if it happens again, let me know". If I get another one (this is my 2nd, should've kept the '11 I guess) it'll be a lease again too I think. At least there's a clear and free way out! (not free, but I won't own it in any case, and I normally end up with some collateral built in 'cause they're clean and low mileage, and I'm getting another one...we'll see. Couldn't drive a Dodge or the new uglier than crap GM's either.)

So Ford offered to split the cost ($140) of the TSB 13-8-1 repair. I took my truck home today. More calls and emails to Ford are needed I guess. I refuse to pay $70, or even one cent to fix a known issue they have a TSB on.

last post on this issue with mine,,I am out of the 3/36 warranty at 66k miles, so its not covered. They will split the cost or I can choose not to fix it. Dealer has been good, and I have had some helpful Ford Reps ( thanks Crystal!), but have some serious thinking to do,,,any lawyers want to start a class action case?

You should have filed a lemon law claim within the first year. As soon as I realized that they had no idea how to fix it .... and my stealership refused to even look at it, I contacted a lemon law lawyer. At the recommendation of my attorney I accepted a reasonable settlement. It will more than cover any money I lose when I trade the truck in before I had originally planned.

I had a feeling that Ford was gonna just let these trucks run out of warranty and then walk away. I am shocked that they may have actually figured the problem out after three years.

Default 2011 150 law suit

I'm currently in litigation now. Ford offered me pennies to settle my case and refused to take their junk back. I urge everyone considering a Ford Ecoboost to buy another brand. I have been a life long Ford owner and now plan to have this case heard in court. Hopefully this forum will prevent others from buying junk. By the way Ford if ten people change brands because of this forum you just lost more than it would have cost to settle this case. Plan to hear from me routinely.
