Two separate issues near as I can tell. Not quite 16K miles on my 2013 Platinum Eco. I had a tune from 5 star until about 200 miles ago when I first noticed the shudder really getting bad. I put her back to stock to have time to get the computer cleared for the dealer. I will be putting the tune back on after the warranty work is complete.

So there is no correlation to the shudder and the 5 star? So for the first 15,800 did you have this shudder and you chose not to take to dealer?

I have always had the shudder even stock before the 5 Star tune. However, it was never much and I just put up with it. This fall after getting back from our 2500 mile vacation trip I noticed it had become more severe and was of the inclination that I had misfires pulling under load even though it threw no CEL. Then one day to show off to a niece and nephew, I tromped it and it fell on its face. CEL blinked several times but went off and everything seemed ok except for the increase in uphill shuddering. That was when I decided to take the tune off and get it to the dealer. Then just a couple days ago when I started it the CEL came on and stayed on. Called and made the appointment for it to be seen the next day.

mine never had the fall on your face but mine had the shutter/misfire underload in 6th gear. Ford created a TSB called 13-8-10 and it was applied to my truck and it seemed to fix the shudder. Maybe have your dealer apply it and see if it helps. If you got the full out CEL,bad cats, CAC water shot into the block issue then this TSB probably wont fix it either..

The shudder update was performed on my truck and it seemed like on the way home that it had stopped the shudder. Evidently I also had misfires on one or more cylinders and this totaled out the cat too. Small town dealers take care of their customers................

So may the damage was done already after the TSB. Hows your truck running now that you got it all replaced?

I think we are having a misunderstanding here. The TSB was performed at the dealer at the time of the diagnosis of bad cat and misfires. All I did was tell them that it jerked going up hills like it was missing on a cylinder. Evidently the tech saw the TSB and applied it and still found the other warranty work for replacing the cat and coil or coils.

I have not yet gotten the parts replaced. They had to be ordered and are to come in today or tomorrow. I have only driven it the one time on the way home after the TSB was applied and it seemed then that it solved the shudder/jerk going up hill. I will keep you informed more after the parts come in.

Fords tool box includes a way to monitor impending codes, those are codes that aren't listed, only are happening infrequently, such as a miss coming and going before it bumps the cell switch over to record or a trans infrequently shifting improperly those sort of things. The ECU/PCM records those events and Ford can pull them out. The Techs usually only want the Codes as that is what Ford pays Warranty for and the Dealer lives on warranty claims and used vehicle sales, that I'm perty sure of.
