Have you tried downshifting to 3rd as soon as it happens? Mine actually only happens above 60, but mainly 70-80.

Granted we shouldn't have to downshift to get rid of the issue at hand, but depending on how long the climb is I'd rather downshift and just stop the issue ASAP.

Been subscribed to this topic for what seems like a year. Not sure of the approach you all are taking with your dealer, but I seem to have my local guy on my side and thought I would share. At first I was pretty dang upset at the issues and the service advisors ho hum attitude. But after reading all the issues here, I decided to change strategies to one of trying to provide my service manager with all the info I can. I understand that Ford has most these guys hamstringed and don't allow them to do anything wo approval. I call my sm when I've had a serious miss and bring it by if the cel comes on. He seems more willing to go to bat for me now than when I first brought it in.

Good luck to us all.

Yesterday I gut the shudder. Did it all afternoon, even went straight to mechanic since he already had wife's ride in the shop. My hand held reader said #5 misfire. Mechanic swapped coil packs 1 & 5 to see if it was the cylinder or coil pack.

Today I picked up NGK TR6s, gapped to .030 and couldn't make it shudder if I tried my hardest. Everything from a stop to a rolling punch and I couldn't recreate it. Monday we will read diagnostics then move on to an SCT tune.

Day by day more people are complaining about this ecoboost engine. Only person who is quiet is Mr. Ford.

Ok, a little background. I've been watching this thread for a while - read the WHOLE thing. I have a 2012 Ford F150, 5.0, XLT Screw with 5.5' bed and 6 speed transmission. I live in Jax, FL.
I noticed even in mine w/o the ecoboost I had a bit of a shudder when it changed temps creating a close to 98-100% humidity in the climate. I have had mine in a few times for the lurching/shuddering. It appears this last time they had a TSB to fix something-still unsure what but it appears to have worked to lessen the lurching when humidity is up. I know b/c yesterday the humidity was UP to about 98% here and it did not do it.
I believe it's a combo of things as stated previously.
ALSO, I believe that the reason you haven't heard about this with other vehicles is b/c this is really an F150 site, but I have a story about that!
I took my truck in for the fix (at least I hope) last week. As I'm dropping mine off with the Service Manager I hear a guy with a Ford Focus almost yelling. He's so mad that he's almost in tears. I actually felt sorry for the guy b/c I had read this WHOLE thread about the ecoboost CRAP. His Focus is an ecoboost as he tells them thru his quivering voice. Next out of his mouth is this is a car under 10,000 miles and I was in NC on a business trip and I'm on an incline at a light and I begin to take off and the car stutters/bucks and then goes. It almost got me killed!
Well, I believe the ECOBOOST STRIKES AGAIN...and this time not in an F150.
I told a buddy about this. He bought a Chevy (I'm not a fan) anyway, he is older than I am and said he remembers the old Turbo's and they would gum up the engines due to the air intakes? He said it sounds vaguely familiar...??!!?
Gotta love saving the environment by releasing crappy technology!

I was just stating that I could make it happen "at will" I can also stop it at will. Just make'n the point it can happen in any gear.

I filed a lemon law suit against Ford in July 2013 after many many attempts to fix my truck, its now December and Ford continues to delay and refuse to settle or return my money. Good luck to everyone, Ford has now lost a life long customer and they dont give a damn..

My check engine light came on a couple days ago. I have had a shudder when in cruise up quite a few hills so thought maybe they were connected. Took in to the dealer and service technician said he had an update reprogram for the shudder but also have a misfire so getting new coil and catalytic converter. So maybe the two are not connected? Two separate issues near as I can tell. Not quite 16K miles on my 2013 Platinum Eco. I had a tune from 5 star until about 200 miles ago when I first noticed the shudder really getting bad. I put her back to stock to have time to get the computer cleared for the dealer. I will be putting the tune back on after the warranty work is complete.
