This thread is insane! The ecoboost trucks are just a mess! Mine had all the problems you guys are describing (and more), I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I had a 2011 I bought in March of 2011. I put 90k on it. It almost killed me twice. It would just fall flat on its face if you floored it. Took it to the dealer a couple months after I bought it and they thought "I" was crazy. Looks like there are a lot of crazy people on this site as well. Its a shame. Just traded it in. Bought another Ford (Taurus) to go with the other two Fords in my garage. But I will never buy another ecoboost as long as I live! Good luck to all....do yourselves a favor, get rid of it before it gets rid of you. Im serious.

This was even after FORD installed the new CAC,shield and applied the new TSB? Or did your issues come before that?

I had these issues before TSB's and after. Then my warranty ran out (over on miles). Never had a new CAC, my warranty ran out before that TSB, but have the shield and computer updates. Took it in numerous (over 10) times and they couldn't duplicate or didn't have a fix yet. Then I hit 60k miles. All I know is its not worth all the hassles. I had lots of other issues with trim and alignment too (still do). It shouldn't be this hard to own a vehicle especially at a $50k sticker price! My other two Fords are fine, never any problems (2008 Edge and 2005 Mustang GT) plus many others throughout the years. Common denominator no ecoboost on these vehicles.

sounds like you had an early EB model. It is sad that Ford didn't step up and replace your truck with the latest (post 9/18/12) upgrades. But I can see why you dumped it. My 13 has been good, no CAC issue but it always concerns me when the weather conditions surface, especially towing the boat.

Why is this problem only effecting trucks. The Eco has been around for years now and I believe the ford cars with the same engine are not experiencing the shut down during rain. The new mustang is going to be available with the same engine, am I right? Is it a question of Ford not wanting to come up with a fix or is it they have no idea how to fix it? Or maybe they look at the numbers....if only 5 percent of all ecoboost engines experience the problem then why spend the money to make those owners happy.

Good question and 'assuming' that statement is true the first things that comes to mind is airflow, tune and weight.
- The trucks all sit taller so maybe some kind of aerodynamic effect is creating a low pressure/differential where it shouldn't be and in turn making it 'worse'?
- Possibly there's a significant difference somewhere in the tune/exhaust adding to this?
- The truck is the heaviest vehicle w/the V6 eco and maybe the added weight causes that much more strain on the engine, along with the added wind resistance that would also cause more strain and that added load is causing it?

Knock on wood but we own 3 Ecoboost V6 vehicles and haven't had this issue to date (2 trucks & MKT) and neither has anyone I know with one (5 more trucks) but everyone lives in a drier climate...

your dry weather is the key. I remember the first reports of this issue were people who lived in AZ,TX,FLA,LA where humidity/rain are high. Seems you don't many posts from those living in Canada,Maine,Michigan and up north. But I do believe FORD has made some effort to provide maybe better parts (IC,TSB,and replace parts). But I do believe this is a patch. They know there is no way they can roll out the 15 w/ECO unless it proves to be flawless. I bet there engineers are testing this motor right now in Florida and southern states recreating the failed scenario to find out what is causing the failure.

This issue is very well known in Atlantic Canada. I rotate between 3 dealers for services depending what is more convenient, and all of them have dealt with this issue many times. . I was even at a 4th dealer to pick up some parts for a buddy and heard a guy describing the shaking when going up a hill. I look out and he has an Ecoboost platty.

Wow, that blows the humidity theory. Then this is a issue everywhere and not just weather related . Thanks for the input. This is even more reason for FORD to fix because if it is happening everywhere then there loyal buyer may be leary of trying the new Eco, if that's the direction there going with in the new 2015 models..
