2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
I will say one thing, the plugs are extremely easy to access on the EB. Just make sure you get a wire gap tool instead of the normal round disc tools to prevent damage to the plugs. All of mine were between .034 and .032 from the factory. Per the manual it states .030 - .032 is the range, so I regapped to .030. I was not having issues, but I like messing with my truck and got bored one day.
Any mention of left side catalytic converter??? Emission system components are covered 100k mi last I remember for whatever that's worth... But if it got plugs, the catalytic converter not far behind???
Some of you may already be aware of this, or may have posted the notice. If so, I apologize for the repetition.
Anyway, NHTSA is finally doing an investigation of the problems with the EB engines. If you want to research it and be kept up to date, go to their site, http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/...Results.action, plug in the info on your truck. The investigation number is PE 13018, finally started on 23 May 13. Currently ongoing.
At least NHTSA will be a little more unbiased. Depending on what comes out in their report, the consumer may finally have some real recourse, other than the canned reply of, "that's within acceptable performance."
Stay tuned for further information, y'all.

Over the time I had both my EB F150's I went through every TSB and fix they could muster up. I also tried every fix this forum could muster up. Still, it was a piece of crap that couldn't be fixed and/or didn't want to be fixed by Ford. If you bark too much to customer care they'll just close your case. Bark too much to the dealer and they'll turn a blind eye to you. Get a lawyer involved and they'll lie through their teeth during arbitration.
Like was mentioned, unfortunately, it's probably going to take a death or two and some major lawsuits before Ford will do anything about it.

Any idea if they are covering the 5.0 engines on this as well? Mine is horrible.

Don't get your hopes up. Here we are 6 months later and nothing from NHTSA. By the time they do anything if at all everyone will have sold all there EB's and moved on. This will drag on forever and the NHTSA will look like a typical govt paid off agency to look the other way group.

The link in that thread details the tests and results from Ford's side. It's a very interesting read, but you can skip to the last page for the conclusion. Spoiler alert... Ford says they have resolved the issue to where it is not a safety concern.
Well, unfortunately I have to contribute to this thread.
My truck: 2012 F1504x4 Crew Cab, EcoBoost. 19500 miles, always serviced at the Ford dealer. Does not have the upgraded intercooler.
Never had an issue until now:
While driving about 55-60 mph, using the cruise control my truck shutters while going uphill. The cruise control maintains the speed and the truck does not shift down, the transmission stays in 6TH gear. No check engine light comes on and the shutter does not happen if I accelerate goibg uphill. I have to say that it is really cold here right now.
Any ideas? Haven't been to the dealer yet and just wanted to know if anybody else had this problem.
Thanks!
